Travel has been my life for the past 20 years and hopefully it will be the same for the next 20! I could eat, sleep and breathe the word and I’ve been fortunate enough to travel quite extensively over the USA and Europe. In fact, I could categorically say Florida is my second home, having been there at least once a year, for the past 20 years! I have worked very closely over the years with Disney, Universal and SeaWorld and would be absolutely delighted to create you a bespoke itinerary for your Florida adventure as I know only too well what a daunting experience this can be for first-time visitors. I am also no stranger to New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas, Chicago and even St Louis (and yes, I did lie beneath the arch)!
But of course, it’s not all about the USA, Europe is another big favourite of mine – particularly Spain, France (where I was lucky enough to study) and the Greek Islands. I also visited for the first time this year Mexico and it was certainly love at first sight. Those beaches just blow your mind! I absolutely live and breathe travel and I love to write about my experiences! Please take a look through my posts - you might find your own holiday inspiration.
In May of this year I was lucky enough to enjoy a VIP trip to Mexico! Having never been to the land of sombrero’s before, as you can imagine I was very excited! May is a lovely time to visit. The temperature averaged between 25-28 degrees and it was pure sunshine from dawn ‘til dusk.
Sadly, it was a fleeting visit before heading off to New York but as time was precious, we certainly made the most! Our accommodation for the duration was none other than the Hard Rock, Riviera Mayan and boy did it rock! We were treated like VIP’s from the moment we pulled up after a pleasantly simple 45-minute transfer from Cancun Airport.
The actual location of the hotel couldn’t have been better. I had a stunning view of the sea from both my hotel bedroom and incredible duplex roof top balcony (also boasting a family-sized hot tub!) This really is how the jet-set live – if only we had more time to enjoy!
As the hotel is all-inclusive the room came fully-stocked with every drink you could wish for – including full size bottles of premium spirits! The hotel also offers 24-hour room service and believe you me the quality is amazing – whether it be 2pm or 2am.
The following morning it was all about the sea and the speed boats. This was possibly the most fun experience I have ever done! You literally go out in two’s and after the briefest of trainings – you’re let loose in the wonderful deep blue sea! We followed our guide in convoy out to a point in the ocean where we moored up and literally swam with tropical fish, this seriously was the closest I have come to paradise – amazing way to spend the morning.
The afternoon didn’t fail to disappoint either. In fact, for me it was the highlight of the trip – unbeknown to me at the time! So off we all went to visit the sister hotel of the Hard Rock (designed by the owner’s daughter), The Hotel Unico. The name says it all. This hotel is definitely unique and to me perfection personified.
Believe you me I have visited hundreds of hotels over the past 20 years but this one without hesitation or doubt is my absolute favourite and I have even vowed to myself to return for a proper vacation in the not too-distant future. I don’t think I can even put into words just how spot-on this hotel actually is. Everything about it just oozes class and style but in a very unassuming and unpretentious way. The lobby, the spa, the secret pools, the restaurants, the bars, the main pools, the swim up rooms, the hot tubs on every balcony, the beautiful landscape and the absolutely stunning private beach. Just golden sand and turquoise sea – just how the Caribbean should be.
We were also treated to a Michelin-class lunch in one of the signature restaurants. Again, hand on heart one of the best meals I have ever had in my life – and I have had a few! Exquisite attention to detail and cooked to perfection, accompanied of course by fine wines and traditional margueritas.
The next day we enjoyed fun in the sun and a bit of a foam party in true Hard Rock style! Mexico – I love you! Hard Rock – YOU ROCK!

We were looking to put together a holiday to Athens and island-hopping on a few of the Greek islands, but were not really sure of where we should go and how to go about it.
