Thailand Adventure

14 December 2024

In August I went on a trip to Thailand, hosted by one of our Travel Groups, EXO Travel. I was one of 12 travel consultants to be fortunate to be on this tour. This trip was for us all to experience Thailand & to see what EXO Travel can put together & offer our clients. The trip was also in partnership with Dusit Hotels. We made our own arrangements to fly into Bangkok. I flew with EVA Air, direct from Heathrow & it was an 11 hour 30 minute flight. On arrival, I was met by a local guide, it took 45 mins from the airport to my hotel, the Asai Chinatown in Bangkok. I haven’t been to Thailand before & the first thing that hit me was the humidity. The hottest time of the year is April and the best time to go is from November to March. I met Pam from EXO Travel who was to be with us throughout our time in Thailand & the rest of the group in the hotel reception. Our first tour was a walk around Chinatown with our local guide Gong. Gong was going to be with us throughout our time Bangkok. I didn’t know what to look at first, there were so many different sights and smells to take in. We tried a few things to eat & drink along the way & saw how local dishes were made. We ended the evening with a lovely dinner at the hotel. Day 2 – We started the morning with a trip to Wat Pho, once of Bangkok’s oldest temples, it was wonderful to walk around & listen to the resident monks chanting. Here is where the reclining Buddha image resides, it’s the 3rd largest in Thailand and took over 17 years to build. Next was The Grand Palace, where we went by tuk tuks. This was my first time on a tuk tuk (but not my last!) The Grand Palace has served as the seat of Thailand’s revered Royal family for more than 2 centuries. After, we boarded a long tail boat along Bangkok’s khlongs. We had lunch at a garden restaurant called ‘Poomjai Garden’. Owned by a local Thai family, who work with the local community to source ingredients to be used in the restaurant. We later arrived at our second hotel of the trip. This was dusitD2 Samyan Bangkok. We had time to freshen up, before our hotel inspection. The hotel had laid on a wonderful buffet and drinks for us, &after we were able to enjoy a cocktail on the roof top bar before retiring for bed. Day 3 - The breakfast was wonderful, it included a wide variety of food, from continental, to various Thai dishes, as well as sweet treats. We were collected by our mini buses & taken on a 25 min journey to the train station. The journey took 1 hour to get to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Ayutthaya. Ayutthaya dates to the 14th Century. We visited various majestic Wat Yai temples and as well as Wat Mahathat, which is a restored ruin of a Buddhist monastery & where you can see Buddha’s face naturally emerging from a tree! After lunch, we were taken by tuk tuk to the mooring point, we boarded our boat to travel around Ayutthaya Island. Then it was time to go back to our hotel, where we had a quick change before we went off out for dinner!! For dinner this evening, our venue was Benjarong Bangkok at Baan Dusit Thani. During this special meal we met our individual account managers that we work with from EXO when putting quotes together for our clients. The food was extraordinary. Day 4 - The next day, we were up early, to leave the hotel for an 5am internal flight to Chaing Rai from Bangkok Airport. The flight was 1 hour. Sadly it was time to say our goodbyes to Gong. We were met at Chaing Rai airport by our guide Sam, we went to the hotel for a quick lunch, before going to explore the Blue Temple. We then visitied a tea plantation, we certainly enjoyed our iced tea and cake taking in the views, as we were quite tired at this point! That evening, we were staying in the ChainRai Riverside hotel. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with the hotel manager, then bed! Day 5 - The following morning we started our journey to Chaing Mai. On the way we visited 2 temples, & stopped off in a local village & experienced a beautiful home cooked lunch in a families home. We arrived at our next hotel, the dusitD2, Chaing Mai, & had a hotel inspection. Then dinner in the hotel, hosted by the hotel manager followed by some free time to explore the street market for some souvenir shopping. Day 6 - The following day we were very excited to be visiting The Elephant Discovery Camp. First, we were to travel on a bamboo raft along the Mae Wang River, what an adventure. Our Elephant Mahout walked us to our camp where we were introduced to the Elephants, we learnt their story a&how they are looked after each day. After their lunch, we walked them down to the river to see them bathe. Once back at the hotel, we got ready for our evening street food tour of Chiang Mai. We tried all sorts of different food. This is where locals dine as it's so inexpensive. We ended our evening in an ice cream shop, taking with us the banana fritters that were made for us at one of the street food stands. Day 7 - After we checked out of our hotel we began our journey by plane to Phuket which took 2 hours. Once we arrived we explored Phuket old town by tuk tuk of course! We were staying at the Dusit Laguana Phuket for 2 nights, after a lovely welcome, we started our hotel inspection. I had a lovely room overlooking the beach & was able to enjoy some free time before another wonderful dinner. Day 8 - We'd been looking forward to this day! We boarded our long tail boat & visited ‘James Bond’ Island famous for the filming of ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’. Later we arrived at our private island, where we relaxed, enjoying a wonderful BBQ, cocktails & a swim in the sea. The evening was spent having dinner in one of the various restaurants at the hotel. Day 9 - This morning we checked out & began our road journey towards Krabi. We stopped along the way for lunch & were also treated to a traditional Thai massage. We arrived at Krabi quite late, to our final hotel, & final night in Krabi, at Dusit Krabi Beach Resort. We enjoyed a lovely farewell dinner together. Day 10 - After a wonderful time spent together, it was time to leave for our flight’s back home. I was flying from Krabi to Bangkok & onto Heathrow. Thailand is an amazing country, there is so much to see & do & it suits, couples and families of all ages. If you’d like to find out more about this wonderful country, please contact me and I will put together a memorable itinerary for you.

Morocco Adventure - Women's Expedition with Intrepid & Alice Morrison

31 October 2024

I was lucky to win a competition recently, to take part in a Women’s Expedition Adventure to Morocco with Alice Morrison, organised by Intrepid Travel. Intrepid Travel is a small group adventure travel company that I can book with. They offer affordable travel packages, travelling in small groups meaning you experience travel the local way. Alice Morrison is an adventure, a TV presenter and writer. Alice has taken part in many challenging events, including racing her bike from Cairo to Cape Town, The Marathon Des Sables, the Everest Trail Race. Alice now lives in the Atlas Mountains, so was joining us on this trip. I travelled to Gatwick to meet the group, there were 14 of us, all working within the travel industry. We flew to Marrakech which was a 3.5 hour flight. From the airport we were met by a local guide and the minibus we were to use throughout our trip. Our guide, was Sara, a female tour guide with Intrepid, who is from the Atlas Mountains and is a real inspiration to women in her community. We visited a local woman Amina in her home, and enjoyed a wonderful homecooked dinner. We were warmly welcomed and served traditional mint tea on our arrival. A typical Moroccan tea ceremony is a time-honoured tradition. After dinner we were entertained by traditional Moroccan Houariyates music. The Houariyate are a female music band, and their songs support and praise women and evoke taboo subjects. After we said our goodbyes to Amina, we travelled to our accommodation for the night. We were staying Riad Alijazira a traditional guesthouse that has a central courtyard or garden inside. Early the following morning, we were woken by the lovely sound of call to prayer. After a local breakfast of coffee, mint tea, chapatis, local cheese and honey we had a tour round Bahia Palace. Nestled in the hear of Marrakech, the Palace is a stunning monument to Moroccan architecture. Built in the late 19th Century, the palace offers visitors a chance to explore the beautifully decorated rooms, tranquil courtyards and lush gardens. After a lovely lunch, we visited Al Nour Association. The Association provides social services to women with disabilities in Morocco. This association enables women to participate in employment opportunities by providing transport, health care benefits and childcare. After we travelled to Imlil, a small village in the Atlas Mountains. On the way we stopped in Asni, to visit a project called Education for All. This project build and run girls’ boarding houses near secondary schools so girls from rural families can continue their education and have a brighter future. Our final stop before reaching our accommodation, was to visit Alice in her home, where we enjoyed tea and traditional sweet treats whilst chatting about Alice’s adventures and our following days trek. We were spending the next 2 nights at our Riad, Jnane Imlil, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Meals were served family style, sharing food together and getting to know one another was one of the many highlights of the trip. The next morning after breakfast, we set out on an exhilarating trek through the Atlas Mountains with Alice. We spent the day trekking, with our local guides and Alice, taking in the breathtaking views. It was a wonderful day, trekking and connecting with one another. Dinner this evening was such a giggle. One of the ladies in our group, had recently started to take up standup comedy. So we were treated to a performance, we all laughed so much. I could even hear the laughter from my room across the Riad when we went to bed. Our fourth day, and after breakfast we travelled to The Ourigane Valley, and met a local guide who took us for a walk. This walk was very special. We were taken into the Berber villages, to see how villagers live a traditional way of life. We visited the salt mines, where local villagers mine salt using traditional methods, pulling buckets of mineral-rich water from wells up to 20m deep and pouring them into evaporating pans in which salt crystals slowly form. During our time here we saw some of the devastation that was affected by the 2023 earthquake, and the work being done to re build these communities. After lunch, we travelled to the Agafay dessert. I was excited to be staying in the desert and to see our accommodation, we were staying in. The ‘tents’ were amazing. They were extremely comfortable which everything you need, even air conditioning and a small fridge! After meeting at the pool bar. where we enjoyed our first alcoholic drink of the trip, it was time to leave for our Camel trek. I won’t mind admitting that I was a little scared about this. I've never seen a camel before and I was a little afraid of getting on and riding this huge beast! However, it was a magical experience, walking through the dessert as the sun was setting, amazing. Later, we enjoyed a lovey dinner and local entertainment followed by an astronomy night while camping under the stars. The next morning, I went for a run through the desert, to see the sun rise which felt amazing. After breakfast we had some free time, to lie by the pool before we left at midday to head back to Marrakech. Once we arrived in the city, we spent some time at the Amal Association, which is dedicated to supporting women by providing them culinary training, after a lovely meal, we went to visit Intrepid Office, for tea and a chance to discuss recent updates and future projects. We checked into our Riad, for our last night, which felt rather sad. However, we still had a few more wonderful experiences to share together. One of these was to take part in a henna ceremony. I had a beautiful design on my hand, using the plant, Henna. After it dries, it leaves a lovely pattern which lasts about 5 days. After the ceremony a couple of us went to the Souks in search of gifts to take back home. I managed to haggle a bit too!! Our farewell dinner was spent at Al Fassia, an esteemed restaurant operated by women. After a wonderful few days together, it was time to leave for our flight back home. We had a great time, the conversation flowed, and we built up a supportive camaraderie between us. This was a unique trip that was put together for us, however there are other itineraries with Intrepid that give opportunities for clients to experience the local community and culture. If you'd like to find out more, either on Morocco or the Intrepid tours, please contact me.

Exploring Disneyland Paris

27 July 2024

I was recently chosen to go on a Disneyland Paris Trip, a work Trip, hosted by some of the Disney Cast Members. This was for a number of travel agents and partners across the country, and I was one of 14 Travel Counsellors to attend. What a wonderful opportunity, Disney is something I am selling, both in Paris and Florida, but not something I have experienced first hand. I was looking forward to learning all about this resort. I travelled on the Eurostar from St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord, where we were taken by coach to the resort and our hotel. The journey took about 45mins/1 hour, to get across the Paris traffic. I stayed at Disney Hotel Cheynne for 2 nights. This hotel is a 3 star and themed on Toy Story. Disney Hotel Cheyenne was a lovely hotel and one I have booked a couple of times for my clients. There is a shop on site, a Starbucks and the restaurant was of a good quality. It’s a 20 min walk along the canal to the Parks, and there is a complimentary shuttle service taking you from the hotel to the parks and back. Some of my colleagues used this service after the fireworks, late and night and they were still running regularly. There are 7 hotels on site, varying from 2 star up to 5 star. I looked around Hotel New York, The Art of Marvel, which has over 350 pieces of original Marvel artwork. The other hotel I visited was the 5 star Disneyland Hotel, this hotel was a real wow for me, just 3 mins from the Parks. The hotel was luxurious and regal The beauty of staying in a hotel on site is you get access into the Parks, 1 hour before everyone else in the morning, this is called Magic Hour. Other benefits include being able to purchase a meal plan, which I would thoroughly recommend, this saves you money in the long run as the food is expensive to purchase once inside the parks and you are not able to take your own food into the parks. However, you don’t have to stay on site, there are other options to explore, such as staying in a hotel linked to Disney but a 10 min drive away. There is a car park on site. Whilst I was there the theme was ‘Symphony of Colours’, which is on until the end of September 2024. The shows change according to the themes and the Seasons. As a group of travel partners, we were lucky to experience VIP viewing areas for the shows, parades, light show and fireworks. This is something you can purchase in advance and something I can assist you with. Each night there is a Disney Electrical Sky Parade which starts at 11pm, in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, followed by Disney Illuminations. I really enjoyed these 2 displays, they were so special. The lights and fireworks along with the music were so powerful and made me quite emotional. When we were not working (we did have some business sessions to attend), and experiencing the shows, we tried to fit in as many rides as possible. We had a Direct Access Pass for each day along with a Premier Access entrance. This meant we didn’t have to queue for any of the rides. This can be purchased in advance and again something with which I can assist. I am not a ride person, but I enjoyed going along with what the others were doing. The girls took me on The Tower of Terror which I won’t be going on again! There are a number of parks based on different themes, these include Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland. You will not be able to visit them all, I managed 3 of them. Plan in advance what you would like to see and which rides you want to experience, that way you won’t be wasting time wandering from park to park. The food at the hotel was lovely, it is served buffet style both for dinner and breakfast, with a wide of variety of food to suit everyone. The second night, we dined in one of the many restaurants within the Parks. We eat in The Steakhouse in Disney Village. The food is expensive, so the pre purchased dining plan is a must. This is something you can purchased on site, so does need to be bought before you go. We had breakfast with the Characters, which you need to book in advance. You can dine with the Characters, or the Princesses during breakfast lunch and dinner. I really enjoyed this, I got to meet Tigger!! There is a photo pass that we had access to, these can be purchased in advance, and are cheaper if you do this, rather than purchase in the park. After each ride, you scan your pass and your photos get loaded to your photo pass app. TIPS Take your own water bottle, there are water fountains inside the Parks Take a battery pack charger for your phone Wear comfy footwear as you will walk a lot. Take a buggy for the smaller children. Prioritise and plan what you would like to see and do Download the Disney App to see live queue times and parade times Watch at least one parade, the performances are fantastic and you get to se the Characters close up If you don’t purchase a VIP viewing area for the light show and illuminations, try and find a spot at least 30 minutes before the show I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, it was great to experience this with colleagues from Disney and the Travel world, I got to experience things I wouldn’t have otherwise and I learnt a lot. I could have written so much more, if there is anything you’d like to know, or you would like me to book your visit, please get in touch.

Adventures in Iceland

23 April 2024

In November I travelled to Iceland, as part of a group tour. During my first year of business, I had a mentor, my friend Hayley who I met whilst on a work trip, on the Queen Mary 2. Hayley has been a Travel Counsellor for 12 years, and Hayley and her business partner Carla were hosting a group tour. This was a 3 night tour, organised by Obeo Travel. We flew from London Heathrow to Reykjavik. On the day that Grindavik was evacuated due to a possible Volcanic eruption. There were some changes to our itinerary, which Obeo Travel handled fantastically. We were collected from the airport and taken to our hotel, which was approximately 45mins-1 hour. That evening, we had an organised tour, a Northern Lights Cruise. We were collected from the hotel and taken to the harbour for a trip out on the boat to see the Northern Lights. We were able to borrow one of the many overalls available to keep warm, which I would recommend. You can then enjoy the evening on the 360-degree viewing platform taking in the panoramic views, listening to the expert aurora guides. Sadly, we didn’t see the Lights, but it was a fantastic cruise. The following day, we had a free day, some of us explored Reykjavik, first of we walked to the ‘Fly Over’. This is a simulated flight ride. Here we were suspended, feet dangling before a 20 metre spherical screen whilst a film whisks us away on a journey across Iceland. Special effects include wind, mist and scents. It was a fanatic experience. We spent the rest of the day walking and exploring the City. I went inside Hallgrimskirkja church. It’s both a parish church and a national sanctuary in Iceland. The tower is 73 metres high which I went up and enjoyed the views of the city, the blue channels, and the surrounding mountain circle. We then went for something to eat, before we had to get ready for our Lagoon experience. One of our group was brave enough to try fermented shark, this is a national dish of Iceland, which has been cured and hung to dry for 4 to 5 months. Apparently, it wasn’t too bad! That evening we were meant to visit the Blue Lagoon, However due to the possible Eruption, Obeo Travel managed to move us to the Sky Lagoon. The Sky Lagoon was just a short drive from the City, it’s also adult only. It was an amazing experience, Here we experienced the seven steps in The Ritual, these included a cold plunge, sauna with a view, cold fog-mist, sky body scrub, steam room and a relaxing shower. It was such a relaxing experience, floating through a breathtaking canyon and taking in a view toward Mount Keillir, whilst enjoying a glass of something fizzy! Monday, we had a full day of activities planned. This was a Golden Circle tour. We were all really excited about this day. We were collected from the hotel by our very own Super Jeep and an extremely knowledgeable guide. It was dark whilst we drove out of the City, it doesn’t get light until 10am in November. We drove 45 mins out of the City to the Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is where Iceland’s parliament was founded in 930 AD. It also holds the meeting of the North-American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and this is the reason its said you can talk between continents at this specific location. We then moved on to drive off road in the Jeep to Langjokull Glacier. We stopped to be kitted out with overalls, gloves, buff and a helmet and off we went for an hour of adventure on snowmobiles, dashing across snowfields. This was my first time on a snowmobile, and I was a little scared! Afterwards, we continued our journey, on to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls, this was a wow moment for me. We had some lunch and visited the gift shop. On our way back to the hotel, we stopped to see the highly active Geysir Hot Spring area with it’s boiling mud pits and spouting hot springs. What a site it was to walk round and see these springs erupting. After dinner, some of us decided to go on the Northern Lights Cruise again, to try and see the Lights, sadly we didn’t. You receive a voucher if you don’t see the lights, to go back again, free of charge to try again. I would thoroughly recommend a trip to Iceland. There are so many things to do and see. I would recommend taking plenty of warm clothing if you are travelling during the winter months. Waterproof trousers, thermals and comfortable footwear are also a good idea. Even though I didn’t see the Northern Lights, it didn’t take away from having the most amazing time we all had as a group. If you are thinking of booking a trip to Iceland, please get in touch and I would love to be able to start planning this for you.

Virgin Voyages Cruise onboard The Resilient Lady

30 November 2023

I was recently lucky enough to go on an educational to experience a Virgin Voyages Cruise. I was so excited as I had heard so many stories about this cruise operator. I had heard about the exceptional service, exclusively adult experience and all about their many awards they have won. Along with some of my travel counsellor colleagues we flew to Athens and boarded the Resilient Lady for a 7 night cruise around Croatia and Greece. The trip was to experience the Virgin Voyages brand as well as to do some work around Social Media. Virgin Voyages operates differently than your typical big brand cruise line. Included in your cruise price are all onboard dining options, which includes over 20 restaurants and 6 speciality restaurants, essential drinks (branded soft drinks, tea and coffee), basic wi-fi, unlimited group workouts, nightly entertainment and tips. They also have evening stays in ports and overnight stays too. There is a Virgin Voyages App you will have access to. This is where you can book your dinner reservations, shows and shore excursions. Shore excursions are an additional charge, I would recommend pre booking these and when I got onboard the trips I wanted to do, had sold out. I stayed in a Sea Terrace Cabin. The design of the cabin was very modern and spacious with a balcony. There was a tablet that controlled everything in the room and the TV came with movies you could enjoy. The balcony features a hammock. It’s the perfect place for an afternoon nap, once you manage to climb into it! There are inside, solo and accessible cabins as well as Suites, which are called Rockstar Quarters. I did manage to visit all the different room types, I have photos and knowledge I can share with you. We stopped in Split, Dubrovnik, Kotor and Corfu. These were great opportunities to explore the wonderful destinations with new colleagues/friends and take content for our social media pages. The food was just amazing, some of the best food I have tasted. All the restaurants you dine in are included. One of my favourites was the Test Kitchen. It features a preset menu, you don’t know what you’re eating until this is explained to you, it’s pure Theatre. I chose to have the wine paring with each course, which made the whole meal even more memorable (this was an additional charge) Virgin Voyages doesn’t do buffets like other cruise lines. Instead, the food is made to order and brought to you. The Galley is where you go for that quick bite to eat. It boasts a dedicated bakery, a burger grill, a taco shack, a sushi bar and a noodle bar. I used to like going there at breakfast and lunch times, choosing from freshly made omelettes or bagels and smoked salmon. I really enjoyed the Noodles, I could go on and on! Oh, and the ice-cream parlour was another favourite of mine, which I visited daily. Amongst the restaurants, there was a Mexican, a Korean, an Italian a steak and seafood restaurant, there is something for everybody. The drinks are not super expensive, and you can purchase a bar tab before you board the ship. Branded soft drinks, still and sparkling water , standard tea and coffee is included. Alcoholic drinks and speciality tea and coffee you have to pay for. The shows and nightlife onboard were fantastic. After dinner, we would enjoy shows in The Manor, a two-story, three-bar space named after Richard Branson’s first recording studio. The Red Room is the first ever transformational, multi-form theatre at Sea. As a group we liked to visit the Karaoke in the Social Club, where they also serve great chicken wings! For those that like a little flutter there is a casino, and an Arcade. From the very start of your cruise, the entertainment doesn’t disappoint with a sail away party, serving free flowing bubbly, and a pyjama party out on deck after dinner. One of the main talking points of the cruise is the Scarlet Night. A chance to dress up in red, get that glitter on your face and experience the ship lit up red with pop up performances, throughout the bars, and out on deck too. There is something for everyone, the live music in one of the cocktail bars ‘On the Rocks’ was a place we met as a group before and after dinner for a pre or post dinner drink. Virgin Voyages offers a wide variety of fitness classes, from spin classes, boxing and Bungee classes, to yoga outside on the Perch in the mornings, watching the sunrise There is a large gym, with one being cardio and on the opposite side of the deck, a studio with a variety of weight machines and free weights. Of course, you could find me here most mornings, or running on the Runway, the outdoor track. Whilst all of that is included, there is a Spa you can enjoy at an additional cost. The amenities are endless, there is a hair and beauty salon, a barber and a tattoo parlour. There is something onboard for everyone, with plenty of activities, to keep you busy, or quiet places to relax and read a book. I had the best week, experiencing this amazing ship, and can’t wait to go on another cruise.

Relaxing Holiday in Greece

24 May 2023

Why Fiscardo: A few years ago, my husband and I spent a week travelling on a Gilet, a traditional sailing vessel, visiting the Ionian Islands of Kefalonia, Greece. One of the places we moored in overnight was Fiscardo, north of the Island, we fell in love with, and so we chose this year’s holiday to spend some time in this wonderful place. Kefalonia is such a stunning island. Whilst Lassi and Sami may be more popular tourist destinations on the island, and Argostoli being the capital, Fiscardo is the most popular mooring point for sailors and homes some of the most stunning apartments on the island. We took a transfer from Kefalonia airport with approx. 14 other people and the journey took about 1hr 30 mins in total, including stops. on a mini bus. We visited during the second week of May, for 7 nights. It was the beginning of the season and the weather was unusually windy. However it was still warm during the day, just remember to take some layers for the evening as dining is all outdoors. Accommodation: We stayed in a lovely waterfront apartment, on a self-catering basis overlooking Fiscardo Harbour. It was an ideal location to be able to wander around the lovely quaint shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as watching the sailing boats coming in and out. Things to do: This was a break to unwind and relax, so we didn’t do an awful lot! We read and spent a lot of time watching the many boats coming in and out. We did hire a boat for the day, which was lovely as we were able to take it out and stop off at various little beaches. I even went for a swim, I had my goggles with me and saw plenty of fish and sea urchins. There are boat trips you can take to Ithaca for the day, with swim stops along the way and there is a Ferry that takes you to Lefkada, another lovely island with beautiful beaches. Local Cuisine & costs: All along the harbour in Fiscardo there are restaurants serving fresh fish and local delicacies for you to feast on. We ate out every day, including breakfasts, sometimes lunch and dinner. I really enjoyed eating Greek Yoghurt, Fresh Fruits, Nuts and honey for breakfast. The Chicken Souvlaki, with grilled vegetables and pitta bread was another favourite. The food seems to have really improved since our last visit 4 years ago, as well as the service, which was excellent everywhere we went, attentive and extremely friendly. The cost of food is similar to that in the UK. €18-20 for a main course, depending on the restaurant you choose. There are plenty of less expensive options, such as eating at local bars where it’s a little cheaper. Drinks, are typically €4.50 for a glass of beer, €4 for a glass of wine. We found a wonderful, traditional bakery, called Tselentis. Selling Sour Dough, Olive Breads, pastries, speciality brioche, Kefalonia Meat Pie, Local Lemon Cake, and so much more. Feeling a little more active: As a runner, I do like to run whilst I’m away. It’s a good opportunity to find some trails and perhaps see points of interest that I wouldn’t normally see. One of the mornings, I explored a nature trail that leads from Fiscardo around the peninsula.I popped my trainers on and hopped off to explore a nature trail that leads just off from Fiskardo around the peninsula. Here you come across 2 lighthouse, one of which you can ascend to the top off and also a few ruins. It takes a mere 15 minutes to walk around, is completely sign posted and is perfect for grabbing some fresh ocean air if you’re staying in Fiskardo. Fiskardo has everything you’d want a Greek fishing village. Tranquil, yet busy in the evening. Beautiful, but rugged enough to feel real. Isolated, but with good accessibility to great beaches, places to eat and areas to explore. If you’re considering a trip to Greece, then please get in touch. There are so many beautiful islands to explore, suitable for couples, friends and families.

Beautiful Lisbon experience with Travel Counsellors We have recently returned from a wonderful short break to the city of Lisbon to mark my wife’s 50th birthday. Having used Claire Calladine’s services before as our Travel Counsellor, there was never any doubt that we would turn to her again. As well as her expert knowledge and recommendation, Claire is extremely reliable and resourceful when it comes to planning and covering all aspects of your journey. Our itinerary and intentions were perfectly anticipated (as always) and therefore any typical ‘pre trip’ internet trawling or anxieties removed. All communications and travel documentation were once again delivered to a tee before, during and after our trip through Travel Counsellors. This time upon arrival to the hotel, there was even the thoughtful recognition of a special birthday with a lovely welcome message. It’s this personal understanding of your travel goals and attention to detail that makes all the difference to your experience. Whatever your travel wishes, you will always feel well looked after when you ask Claire to take the lead with as much or little pre planning as you wish. After only a brief chat, she will have such an exact understanding of what can be done with your time and budget. She takes all of the otherwise negative aspects of travel planning away so all you have to do is relax and enjoy having a great time and fulfilling experience. Highly recommend. Thanks once again Claire.

Claire has been fantastic booking our family cruise. Always on hand to answer questions and quick to offer options for our holiday. She came to our house to talk everything through with my parents and to finalise details. We have a mix of age groups and people traveling from different areas so having Claire on hand made things so much easier. I can't recommend Claire enough, she completely takes the stress out of booking a holiday and has plenty of options. We would definitely use her services again.

We have certainly had the very best experience of booking a holiday & Claire has gone above & beyond to make our holiday special. She has also assured us that if there is anything else we need help with we should get in touch with her

Claire was absolutely brilliant, as a first time traveller I was very conscious about getting everything about the holiday perfect. Claire was both supportive and reassuring in helping me book, pay and arrange my trip. She provided all the answers I needed and was open to questions and inquiries throughout. With her help, my holiday is now booked and she has given me access to all relative and necessary information as well as guiding me through the app ‘MyTc’ to make everything easily accessible. Both me and my partner cannot thank her enough for making this such a walk in the park! Thanks again!

Howard(my uncle) got back from his adventure of a lifetime where he went on a cruise ship around Australia and New Zealand for 25 nights for his 80th Birthday. One of the places he and Dad didn't get todo and none of it would have been possible without Claire Calladine Travel Counsellor who planned everything from assisted travel, all the transfers, visa, trips, insurance etc making the impossible (we thought) possible and I can't thank her enough as she made it so easy for Howard who is 80 and travelling solo. Putting us at ease all the way with her planning and reassurance. If your going away then I highly recommend Claire to book your holiday for you, taking out all the stress, no matter how big or small your holiday is and at no extra cost. Claire is always at the other end of the phone too and not just office hours. She will also match any tui /jet 2 holiday etc you find on the internet. Thank you once again. Howard is already planning his next adventure with Claire

We have just returned for 10 days on Lanzarote, Claire arranged everything perfectly, she knew about my concerns with Birmingham airport, due to the security queues and did everything in her power to put my mind at ease. We Had private transfers to and from resort to save all the waiting for other holiday makers at the airport meaning we got to hotel within 35 mins from collecting cases. The whole holiday was fabulous just what we needed. First class Claire, thank you !! Date of experience: 15 July 2024

Put the fun back into booking a holiday! Really impressed with Claire’s knowledge and ability to grasp exactly what I wanted and find the perfect holiday. There are so many options and ways to book travel these days, I found trying to juggle everything and do it myself quite time consuming & overwhelming, so Claire took all the hassle out of this and just sorted it all! Using Travel Counsellors meant I could focus on the fun stuff and look forward to my holiday rather than worrying about what I might have forgotten to arrange.
