A Dreamy Greek Getaway
Cruising the Greek Isles in Style: Silversea Silver Muse
This was my husband's first-ever cruise, and what a way to begin! We boarded the Silver Muse, a stunning all-suite, all-inclusive ship from Silversea Cruises, and were welcomed into our Deluxe Veranda Suite — complete with our own butler. The attention to detail was extraordinary, from gourmet dining and fine wines to seamless service and sunset views from our private veranda. Over six nights, we explored the Greek Isles in luxury. The ship's intimate size allowed us to dock closer to charming island towns, where we wandered cobbled streets, sampled local delicacies, and soaked up the Mediterranean sun. For those new to cruising, Silversea is the perfect introduction: luxurious, personal, and effortlessly relaxing. It's cruising, elevated.
Santorini: A Sentimental Return
From the ship, we flew internally to Santorini, where we spent three magical nights at Domes Novos Santorini, a modern luxury retreat perched on the island's edge. Our Zen Pool Room offered serene views and a private plunge pool — the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring. This leg of the trip held special meaning. Santorini was where Nigel and I had our very first holiday together, 27 years ago. Returning to those caldera views, whitewashed villages, and breathtaking sunsets brought back beautiful memories — and made new ones. The hotel’s bed and breakfast concept allowed us to enjoy leisurely mornings before heading out to rediscover the island — from the iconic blue domes of Oia to the volcanic black sand beaches.
Crete
After a scenic ferry ride from Santorini to Crete, we were met by a private transfer and whisked away to our final stop: Daios Cove, a five-star, all-inclusive resort that defines barefoot luxury. We stayed in a Deluxe Junior Suite with a private pool, where views of the turquoise cove made every morning feel like a dream. The resort strikes a beautiful balance between indulgence and relaxation, with world-class dining, curated cocktails, and plenty of space to do as much or as little as you please. One highlight was an unforgettable evening rib boat excursion from the resort. As the sun began to dip toward the horizon, we cruised along the coast, passing the hauntingly beautiful Spinalonga Island. At a quiet spot in the open sea, the boat dropped anchor and we had the chance to swim straight from the boat, with the warm Aegean around us, a glass of chilled champagne in hand, and a platter of fresh fruit waiting back on board. It was pure magic — peaceful, exhilarating, and incredibly romantic. Crete’s rugged charm and authentic villages are just a short drive away, but with our own pool, oceanfront restaurants, and moments like this on the water, we often found ourselves in no rush to leave.
This trip was more than a holiday — it was a journey through luxury, memories, and reconnection. Whether it’s your first cruise or your fifteenth, a romantic return to a special destination, or simply a chance to slow down in style, Greece has something for every kind of traveler. If you're dreaming of your own Greek adventure — by sea, land, or both — I'd love to help you plan it. Let’s make your travel dreams a reality.
