I’ve just got back from the most gorgeous 3-night spa break at Laceby Manor Golf & Spa in Laceby, Lincolnshire – and I couldn’t wait to share it with you! If you’re craving a luxury UK staycation with total relaxation, gorgeous surroundings, and a little bit of indulgence, you’ll love this place. We stayed in one of the Luxury Hideaway Lodges – two stylish bedrooms, two lovely bathrooms, a beautiful modern lounge, kitchen, and even a utility room. The whole place had such a calming, luxurious feel. And yes – there’s an outdoor hot tub on the decking (undercover, so perfect whatever the weather). Pure bliss. Our highlight? The Saturday Morning Retreat at the spa. It started with a delicious shot of kiwi, mango, banana and pineapple and warm heated towels – such a lovely welcome. Then we slipped into robes and headed straight into spa heaven. The spa facilities are stunning. There’s an indoor hydrotherapy pool that leads out into an outdoor infinity pool, both overlooking the golf course – the views are just incredible. And the best bit? A spa butler on hand to bring you smoothies, coffees, or even a cocktail while you relax. There’s also a herbal sauna that smells amazing, an aromatherapy steam room that helps melt away any stress, plus a quiet relaxation room and a reading lounge that’s perfect for a little switch-off time. We also enjoyed a 45-minute couples Spiced Mud Rasul Ritual – a dreamy treatment that left our skin feeling super soft and refreshed. Afterward, we had a lovely 2-course lunch included – and it was absolutely delicious. The rest of the weekend? Spent lounging in the hot tub, reading, sipping fizz, and soaking in the peaceful vibes of the lodge. Honestly, we didn’t want to leave – and we’re already planning our next visit. Let’s be honest — travelling with little ones can feel like a military operation. But it doesn’t have to be stressful. With a few simple tips, family holidays can be fun, relaxing and full of lovely memories. Here are some of my go-to tips for travelling with young children: 1. Plan early The earlier you book, the more options you’ll have — especially for family-friendly resorts and the best flight times. Early bookings also mean better prices and peace of mind. 2. Choose the right hotel Not all hotels are created equal! Look for places with kids’ clubs, splash parks, babysitting services and family-sized rooms. Some even have baby equipment ready for you — no need to pack everything but the kitchen sink. 3. Go for direct flights if you can Less faff, fewer chances of delays, and much easier with little ones in tow. Trust me, your future self will thank you! 4. Pack snacks… and then pack more snacks It’s a parenting superpower. Snacks solve 90% of travel tantrums. Keep a stash of favourites in your hand luggage for planes, transfers and delays. 5. Don’t overpack the itinerary You don’t need to cram in everything. Kids need downtime, so leave plenty of space for naps, pool time or just chilling with an ice cream. 6. Bring something familiar A favourite toy, blanket or bedtime book can make a new environment feel less overwhelming for little ones. Comfort is key! 7. Keep it simple at the airport Consider fast track security if it’s available, and pack your hand luggage smart — nappies, wipes, a change of clothes, entertainment, and snacks (obviously!). 8. Stay flexible Things don’t always go to plan, and that’s ok. Be kind to yourself and take it all in your stride. You’re making amazing memories — even if there are a few sticky fingers along the way. Think cruises aren’t for you? Think again. There are loads of myths floating around about cruise holidays — and it’s time to set the record straight. Here are five things people think about cruising… and why they’re just not true. 1. “Cruises are just for older people” Nope! Cruises have totally changed. There are ships packed with waterparks, zip lines, cinemas, surf simulators, spas, kids' clubs and more. You’ll find families, couples, solo travellers — even honeymooners. Everyone’s welcome onboard. 2. “I’ll feel stuck on a boat” Honestly, modern cruise ships are more like floating resorts. Think shopping malls, restaurants, bars, pools, entertainment… there’s so much to do, you’ll forget you’re at sea. And you’re off exploring new places most days anyway! 3. “I’ll get seasick” Most people don’t. Ships are so big and stable now that you barely feel any movement. Plus, there are lots of ways to help if you’re worried — from choosing the right cabin to handy travel bands or tablets. 4. “It’s too expensive” When you break it down, cruises are actually great value. Accommodation, meals, entertainment, travel between destinations — it’s all included. And there are some amazing deals out there (just ask me!). 5. “It’s too formal” Gone are the days of dressing up every night (unless you want to!). If you’re planning a trip (or just daydreaming for now), here are ten things you won’t want to miss. 1. Watch the sunset in Oia It’s iconic for a reason. Find a good spot early (it gets busy!) and soak up that golden glow as the sun sinks into the sea. It’s a pinch-me moment. 2. Wander the streets of Fira Fira is full of charm — think little boutiques, local tavernas and those postcard-perfect views around every corner. It’s great for a mooch and a glass of something chilled. 3. Take a boat trip to the volcano Sail across the caldera, hike up the volcano (yes, it’s still active!), then cool off in the hot springs nearby. It’s a brilliant way to see the island from the water. 4. Visit the black sand beaches Santorini’s beaches aren’t your usual white sands — they’re volcanic and dramatic. Head to Perissa or Kamari for a day of sunbathing with a twist. 5. Try a wine tasting Santorini’s wine scene is surprisingly fab! Pop into a local vineyard and try their signature crisp Assyrtiko. The views aren’t bad either! 6. Explore Pyrgos village Less touristy and totally lovely. Pyrgos has a peaceful, traditional vibe, with winding alleys, cute cafés and stunning hilltop views. 7. Hire a quad bike and explore It’s such a fun way to get around. Zoom off to hidden spots, quiet beaches and tiny villages at your own pace. 8. Visit the ruins at Akrotiri Into history? This ancient city was buried by a volcanic eruption and gives serious Pompeii vibes. Fascinating and totally worth a visit. 9. Enjoy a sunset dinner with a view There’s nothing quite like sipping local wine and sharing Greek meze as the sun goes down. Pure magic. 10. There’s one place that keeps calling my name… Japan. It’s been on my list for years, but recently it’s jumped right to the top. The mix of tradition and futuristic cities. Cherry blossoms, temples, sushi, bullet trains… what’s not to love? I’m dreaming of wandering through Kyoto’s peaceful gardens one day, then sipping cocktails high above the neon streets of Tokyo the next. It’s that contrast that fascinates me – old meets new, calm meets chaos, culture meets cool. Why Japan? Honestly, it’s the kind of place I know will leave me speechless. I want to see those famous shrines in real life, not just in photos. I want to get lost in a tiny ramen bar in a backstreet somewhere. I want to try things I’ve never tried before — like soaking in an Onsen, staying in a traditional ryokan, or even taking part in a tea ceremony (though I’ll probably giggle my way through it!). It’s not just about the sights… it’s about the experience. Japan is a place that feels completely different from anywhere I’ve ever been. And I love that. I want that ‘wow’ feeling. The one you only get when you’re completely out of your comfort zone — in the best way. Plus, the food. Let’s be real. I could happily eat sushi, gyoza and katsu curry every day for the rest of my life. And don’t get me started on the bakeries and matcha treats I’ve seen online! When do I want to go? Ideally, springtime — for cherry blossom season. I’ve seen the photos and they look magical. The parks full of soft pink petals, people having little picnics under the trees… it just looks so special. But autumn is on my radar too. Those golden-red leaves and crisp cool air? Yes please. What kind of trip am I dreaming of? Something a bit of everything. A few nights in Tokyo to get my city fix. A slower pace in Kyoto. Maybe a day trip to see Mount Fuji. Possibly even a beach day in Okinawa if I’m feeling extra! I’d want to mix it up - a luxury hotel here, a traditional guesthouse there. That way you really get a taste of everything. Would I recommend it to my customers? 100%. Whether it’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, a foodie trip, a culture fix or even a unique honeymoon, Japan ticks so many boxes. Malta, a gem in the heart of the Mediterranean, offers a vibrant mix of culture, history, and adventure. Our stay in Bugibba with my family was nothing short of spectacular, with lively streets, beautiful restaurants, and endless opportunities for water sports, which the kids absolutely loved. It was the perfect base for exploring this dynamic island, and we had the chance to experience everything. Here's a glimpse of our Maltese adventure. Bugibba welcomed us with its lively vibe, a perfect mix of relaxation and fun. The town is packed with gorgeous restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, from fresh seafood to local Maltese delicacies. Whether we were diving into water sports or enjoying an evening stroll along the promenade, Bugibba had it all. No trip to Malta would be complete without a visit to Valletta, the stunning capital city. We spent the day wandering through its historic streets, soaking in the rich culture and architecture. Mdina, the silent city, offered a contrasting experience with its charming narrow streets and beautiful views. One of the highlights of our trip was a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon in Comino. The crystal-clear waters were breath-taking, and we had a fantastic time swimming and relaxing under the sun. You MUST try the Pina Colada served in a coconut!! We also explored Mellieha, known for its beautiful beaches and stunning views. Visiting Popeye Village was a great family experience; the colourful film set brought back childhood memories and provided plenty of photo opportunities. Sliema was another stop on our adventure, where we enjoyed shopping and indulged in the local cuisine. The Summerdaze Festival added an exciting touch to our visit, showcasing performances from world class DJ's and artists. We hopped on a hop-on-hop-off tour, which allowed us to explore various sights, including the majestic Mosta Dome, where we saw the bomb that famously fell through the roof during WWII but did not explode. Cultural experiences were plentiful, from witnessing colourful fireworks displays to exploring the Carnival festivities. We even visited a crafts village where we watched skilled artisans engage in glass blowing. Malta is a place where every corner offers something new, and our journey through this beautiful island was truly unforgettable. A week of Irresistible Adventures, Culinary Delights, and Unforgettable Nights! For this trip we stayed in a Sea Terrace Cabin, also known as a Balcony Cabin. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by modern technology with an iPad that connected to the TV, offering a wide selection of movies, including the latest releases. But the real showstopper was the automatic curtains that opened magically, revealing breathtaking views as soon as we stepped inside our cozy cabin. Our voyage began in the vibrant city of Barcelona, where we embarked on the stunning Valiant Lady. From there, we set sail to explore enchanting destinations such as Toulon, Marina di Carrara, Ajaccio (Corsica), and, of course, the legendary party island of Ibiza. In Ibiza's charming Old Town, we indulged in some retail therapy, discovering unique shops and boutiques. To satisfy our hunger, we stumbled upon Pascha café, where we enjoyed a delicious meal and refreshing drinks. To return to the ship, we hopped on a water taxi, adding an extra touch of adventure to our day. Now, let's talk about the food! Prepare your taste buds for a culinary journey like no other. We dined at Gunbae, a Korean BBQ restaurant with a grill right on your table, allowing you to savour the mouthwatering flavours cooked right in front of you. Razzle Dazzle, a vegetarian-style restaurant, surprised us with its delightful menu. But here's a little secret: don't forget to ask for the "secret" menu! Pink Agave, the Mexican restaurant, became an instant favourite with its vibrant flavours and lively atmosphere. However, my personal highlight was The Wake, a steakhouse with a wow factor that left us speechless. And for lovers of Italian cuisine, Extra Virgin offered an exquisite array of dishes that left us craving more. But wait, there's more! For quick bites or breakfast, the Galley provided endless options, from noodles to burgers, cakes to salads. And if you ever found yourself in need of a midnight snack, the 24-hour American diner was there to satisfy your cravings. Let's not forget the ultimate indulgence – room service with Ship Eats.
