Disneyland Paris: My Top Tips for a Magical Trip

Andreea Spasova on 08 March 2025
I’ve just returned from a truly magical trip to Disneyland Paris, and I’m still smiling like I just hugged Mickey Mouse. If you're thinking about planning a visit, here's everything I wish I’d known and a few things I’m so glad I did.

Regardless if it’s your first visit or your fifth, Disneyland Paris has a way of making you feel like you're stepping straight into a storybook. The attention to detail is next level, from the Mickey-shaped pancakes at breakfast to the tiny splash you get on the Ratatouille ride when a virtual champagne cork “pops.” It’s imaginative, immersive, and utterly enchanting.

????? Even the Queues Are Part of the Magic One of the surprises for me was how even the waiting areas are storytelling experiences. The queue for Pirates of the Caribbean, for example, takes you through dimly lit caverns, with echoing water drips and that salty scent of the sea, it truly feels like you’re about to join Jack Sparrow on an adventure.

?? Stay On-Site for Extra Disney Magic We stayed at Marvel, one of the Disney Hotels on-site, and I’d absolutely recommend it. Why?

Early Magic Time: You get early access to the parks (before the general public), which means shorter lines for big-ticket rides like Peter Pan’s Flight or Crush’s Coaster.

Theming and Atmosphere: Every Disney hotel has a unique theme, from the seaside charm of Newport Bay Club or the Western vibes at Cheyenne and it carries the magic all the way through your stay.

Proximity: You're just a short walk (or shuttle ride) to the parks, which is ideal if you’re travelling with little ones or just want to pop back for a rest.

?? Use Premier Access Wisely Lines for popular rides can easily stretch past 90 minutes. Enter Premier Access, Disney’s fast-track option that lets you skip the queues (for a fee). It’s available through the Disneyland Paris app, and it's worth it for the big-name attractions. Pro tip: Buy Premier Access early in the day, they sell out fast on busy dates.

??? Dining Tips to Know Before You Go Disneyland Paris has upped its food game in recent years, no longer just burgers and fries (though those are available too).

?? Bistro Chez Remy Dining inside a rat-sized world next to the Ratatouille ride is as adorable as it sounds. Oversized jam jar lids become tabletops, and fairy lights twinkle overhead, pure Disney charm.

?? The Royal Banquet at the Disneyland Hotel This is where the Disney princess magic happens. It’s pricier, but if you’ve got fans of Ariel, Cinderella or Belle in your group, it’s one of those "forever memories" kind of meals.

?? Book early! Many of the most sought-after restaurants book out weeks in advance, especially during school holidays. Use the app or book as soon as your dates are confirmed.

?? Half Board Meal Plan or Bakery Breakfast? We found the Half Board Meal Plan to be great value, especially if you plan to enjoy a proper sit-down meal once a day. It includes breakfast and either lunch or dinner across many of the park’s quick- and table-service restaurants.

If you’re going without a plan, a coffee and Mickey-shaped beignet from the Main Street bakery is the perfect low-key start to the day.

?? Dress the Part, But Prioritise Comfort The magic may be in the air, but your feet are very much on the ground, often for 20,000+ steps a day. Wear the comfortable shoes. Thank me later.

And if you or your kids love a bit of sparkle, feel free to dress up! There’s something special about little ones in full princess or Jedi regalia, and grown-ups can have fun with Mickey ears or Disney-themed outfits too.

?? Don’t Miss the Shows The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands is a must-see, a stunning combination of dance, acrobatics, and live vocals. It’s Broadway-level entertainment, included in your ticket. Other shows, like Mickey and the Magician or the evening drone and fireworks display, are also magical highlights.

?? Getting There: Uber or Train? We opted for Uber from Gare du Nord, which was stress-free and reliable. You can also take the train, but note there’s no direct line to Disneyland from Gare du Nord, you'll need to change at least once, usually at Châtelet-les-Halles and again at Marne-la-Vallée.

If you want to skip the transfers, you can pre-book a Disney shuttle or stay overnight near the station before heading to the park.

?? Final Disney Tips from Me Download the Disneyland Paris App: It’s your lifeline in the park for ride wait times, mobile food orders, show schedules, and booking Premier Access.

Pack snacks and water: Especially for kids. Queues can get long, and snacks are your secret weapon.
