Rounding Up My Incentrive Trip to Orlando

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are linked on the outside by Universal CityWalk. Not knowing what to expect from this, it was great to have the time to see this from a variety of angles. When using the complimentary shuttle buses, you arrive outside of CityWalk and pass through security (on busy days, make sure to factor in the queues here too!) before walking down and seeing the infamous parks in the distance. The Signature Collection hotels offer a water boat transfer which is a great alternative to the bus and with this, you arrive waterside to CityWalk, travelling down between the parks and CityWalk itself. From the NBC Sports Bar to the Hard Rock Café with its floating Pink Cadillac and plenty of alternatives in between, make sure you factor in time to visit the shops and restaurants here! For those karaoke singers in you, head to Rising Star but get there early if you want to be in with a chance of singing and be warned, once the Americans say it’s time to leave, the lights are on and you are handed a plastic cup to take any liquid refreshments still on the go with you!

Mardi Gras arrives into Universal on an annual basis and generally runs from early February until the end of March (select evenings only). If you are visiting over these dates then you must include this at least once. Arrive early to secure a good spot and ensure you are ready to catch as many of the beaded necklaces as possible – this is a real competition!!! Of course there is more to Mardi Gras than just the necklaces. Bringing New Orleans to Orlando, enjoy the colourful costumes, amazing performances and authentic New Orleans bands alongside the extravagant parade floats. As long as you have a Universal ticket then you have access to this party! Make sure to check out the planned concerts over Mardi Gras season and factor that into your schedule planning.

Looking back on this amazing trip, my top highlights are the VIP Experience at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, dinner at Mama Della’s Ristorante at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and walking down City Walk and seeing the infamous Universal Globe (I could go on and on!). From beginning to end, Universal and all that came with it, did not disappoint. I travelled back to the UK with very weary legs so be warned – this is not a relaxing holiday! If you are looking at doing the full on Universal and Disney Florida combo or would like to experience the parks for a few days with somewhere at the end for some R&R, please do get in touch and we can start planning your next adventure! Now to save up to go back with the family…..
