5 myths about cruise holidays (and why they’re totally not true)
Think cruises aren’t for you? Think again.
There are loads of myths floating around about cruise holidays — and it’s time to set the record straight.
Here are five things people think about cruising… and why they’re just not true.
1. “Cruises are just for older people”
Nope! Cruises have totally changed. There are ships packed with waterparks, zip lines, cinemas, surf simulators, spas, kids' clubs and more. You’ll find families, couples, solo travellers — even honeymooners. Everyone’s welcome onboard.
2. “I’ll feel stuck on a boat”
Honestly, modern cruise ships are more like floating resorts. Think shopping malls, restaurants, bars, pools, entertainment… there’s so much to do, you’ll forget you’re at sea. And you’re off exploring new places most days anyway!
3. “I’ll get seasick”
Most people don’t. Ships are so big and stable now that you barely feel any movement. Plus, there are lots of ways to help if you’re worried — from choosing the right cabin to handy travel bands or tablets.
4. “It’s too expensive”
When you break it down, cruises are actually great value. Accommodation, meals, entertainment, travel between destinations — it’s all included. And there are some amazing deals out there (just ask me!).
5. “It’s too formal”
Gone are the days of dressing up every night (unless you want to!). Most cruises are super relaxed, with casual dining, poolside snacks, and a totally laid-back vibe. It’s your holiday — you do you.
