Stunning Switzerland!
I had the most amazing 4 nights exploring Switzerland on an educational trip with the Swiss Tourist board…
My trip started with a direct Swiss Airline flight from London Heathrow to Zurich. The flight was a rapid 1 hour and 15 minutes. We flew economy class, and this included complimentary water and Swiss Chocolate!
Once I arrived at Zurich airport, I met our group and used our First-Class Swiss Travel Pass to board the Train to our first destination! I was super impressed by Switzerland's transport system, The Swiss Travel Pass gives unlimited use of public transportation which includes trains, buses, boats, and most cable cars in more than 90 towns and cities, Free admission to more than 500 museums + 50% discounts on mountain excursions!
After around an hour's train ride, I arrived at our first stop, Lucerne, a beautiful city, situated on Lake Lucerne, it has stunning views of the mountains and lakes. There are plenty of excursions on offer in the mountains of the Rigi, Pilatus, and Stanserhorn. We completed a guided walking tour of Lucerne to learn all about the history here and had a traditional meal to end a very busy day of traveling.
My next stop was Lausanne where I visited the Cathedral, Olympic Museum, Fine Arts Museum and had a gorgeous meal in an old casino – Brasserie De Montbenon. I highly recommend their filet steak!
Next up was Chexbres where I explored local vineyards and experienced some wine tasting! We then visited Charlie Chaplin's World in Vevey and watched the sunset over Lake Geneva.
On day 4 we travelled to Montreux where I visited the beautiful Chateau De Chillon which is situated on Lac Lemen (also known as Lake Geneva) Next, I were lucky enough to ride the Golden Pass Express in prestige class! This is the newest panoramic train in Switzerland that offers breathtaking views!
I stayed in Speiz for the final night in a gorgeous lake-view spa hotel. However, we spent the last evening together as a group in Lake Thun, a pretty town with views of the mountains and a beautiful castle at the top! Throughout October each evening, they have a Water show on the lake which we were lucky enough to see!
I am so lucky to have experienced so much in just 4 days! However, this is just a small part of Switzerland, there is so much more to see! Especially when their transport system makes it so easy to get around!
I would recommend Switzerland to everyone including families, couples, and solo travellers and it’s perfect to visit all year round!
