Oman delights

Who ever thought of going to Oman ? I had looked at you tube videos and read a guide book it sounded fantastic and it did not disappoint. This is the real authentic middle east . It is really nice , super nice people the Omanis, a lot of history , culture beautiful scenery with a grand canyon . It is a very safe country also going in our winter time is great average temperature was 24degrees. All the buildings are white which fits very well within the scenery. Most people in Oman still wear the traditional dress men in white and woman covered up in Black . We did an organised tour with intrepid there were 12 people in the group we were very lucky, it was a great group of people. We had a fantastic guide called Said and two further drivers. We were taken around in 3 4WD vehicles. The roads in Oman are excellent . We did some mountain roads and the scenery is spectacular The first few days we spend in Muscat it is a nice low rise city . It has the most beautiful mosque amongst other interesting sides . From Muscat we travelled to Rass al had with stops at the Bimmah sinkhole and the Wadi tiwi, which is a Canyon . We stayed at the Ras al Jinz turtle resort. When we were there it was not the season for turtles. The next day it was all about the desert first stop was at a dhow factory on to a Wadi where we could have a swim and to the desert we had the most beautiful sunset . We stayed in a desert camp which was really great. After the desert the first visit was o Jabreen castle and after that we travelled to Nizwa which is one of the oldest cities in Oman. It has a very nice souk and a beautiful old fort . After Nizwa we travelled to a mountain villahge called Misfat al Abyreen we had lunch with a local family great experience .Next on the list was the Grand canyon of Oman and wow this is sooo spectacular. Our accommodation was at around 2000meters high we had just the most beautiful sunset and views . We had a very nice walk the next morning along the side of the Grand canyon. On our last day we did a great drive in the mountains near Snake gorge . What a fantastic country Oman I can highly recommend it .
