A short sunny stay in Dubai

We decided to go to Dubai in the depths of UK winter for a short trip to get some vitamin D and we were not disappointed. Dubai was a lovely 24 degrees every day while we were there, which meant we could sit outside and dine in the sun, and even sunbathe without being too worried about getting burnt. It was a delight to get my flip flops out again! We stayed at One&Only Royal Mirage, which is an oasis centrally located close to the Palm and JBR https://www.oneandonlyresorts.com/royal-mirage I highly recommend this hotel. The staff are genuinely lovely and so many thoughtful touches, such as free sun cream, water in cool bags by your lounges and loads of meal options included in the half board package, including a la carte dinners and even breakfast. Its very much understated luxury and not pretentious or full of influencers, so a perfect place to relax and return to after exploring. We stayed at the Arabian Court side, and our room was set back in front of another room, with a door which could close at the end of both rooms, which would be perfect for families. We did venture out and went to a Saturday brunch on our first day. I have never been to one before, but asked colleagues which they preferred and decided on Bubulicious, which was conveniently located next door to our hotel. If you have never been to a brunch before, try it - its a fun day, with free flowing champagne and amazing food! There are entertainers and bands playing throughout the day too and it's a lovely way to relax and be spoilt. Cost was roughly £150 each for the top package but worth it for all the lobster, rock crab and champagne available! The rest of our four night stay was spent enjoying the sun and wondering around the Marina and Burj areas. Dubai is perfect for a bit of winter sun, but also as a great stop off on the way to Asia, Australia or Africa or combinable with Abu Dhabu or Ras Al-Khaimah, or even a holiday in its own. I came away feeling refreshed and relaxed..... and happy to be wearing flip flops and shorts again!
