Do you know who is booking your holiday?
These days, lots of people call themselves “travel agents” as a side hustle. But travel isn’t a hobby, it’s people’s hard-earned money and precious time. And when things go wrong, missed flights, hotel issues, last-minute changes, you need more than someone who dabbles on the side. You need a professional.
People often think that because they like to travel, with a weeks system training they are then ‘travel agents’.
The real questions you should ask - What experience do you have? Can you solve problems quickly and calmly? Are you available when I might need you?
The reason I’m highlighting this is because of a recent report in The Sun Newspaper about a well-known travel company. That report pointed out that much of their time is spent recruiting people and promoting the idea that they can ‘be a travel agent’ as a ‘side hustle’!
This news report shows that it’s really more of a recruitment process. People are encouraged to join and pay their yearly contributions, but in reality, those at the top (more often than not celebrities) benefit financially from these fees, not from actually the selling or delivering of holidays.
With 20+ years as a Travel Counsellor (and 25 years in travel), I’m available 24/7 whether it’s a WhatsApp, email or a phone call. I’ve helped clients through flight cancellations, strikes, volcanoes, even global pandemics. And I’ll always be there to sort things out.
Booking with me doesn’t cost you more but it saves you stress and the 30+ hours most people spend trawling the internet for a holiday. One point of contact. Real experience. Total peace of mind.
Because your holiday shouldn’t be someone’s side hustle, it should be in the hands of someone who lives and breathes travel.
