If you're looking for a fascinating stopover for an Asian or Australasian multi centre this should be on your list! Singapore—known as both “Lion City” based on the story of Sang Nila Utama's sighting of a lion on their shores and “Garden City,” due to its many parks and tree-lined streets is a wonderful melting pot of cultures brought to it by immigrants from all parts of Asia Singapore has a plethora of attractions and is perfect for couples, solo's and families - there really is something for everyone. Singapore is really easy to get around, the subway system is clean and efficient, taxis are a plenty or you can walk from neighbourhood to neighbourhood. The city is a a combination of the hyper modern and the traditional. For stunning views go to the Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck, 56 floors up and enjoy an amazing 360 view, then a short walk from here you can explore the expansive Gardens by the Bay including the wow factor Cloud Forest with its 35m indoor waterfall, plus the Flower Dome and Supertree Grove, which is best viewed after dark. For a stunning view across Marina Bay head to Merlion Park and take a photo with the infamous statue, or take whirl on the Singapore Flyer, one of the largest observation wheels in the world and view the route of the Formula 1 race track! If you're interested in history, head to the Civic Centre with the impressive City Hall, St Andrew's Cathedral, Victoria Concert Hall, National Gallery and National Museum of Singapore. Looking for somewhere to eat? You will be completely stuck for choice, from Michelin starred restaurants to some of the best street food globally. Take a stroll along Boat Quay and Clarke Quay with its scenic setting and multi-coloured restaurants or head to Chinatown and after dining visit the Thian Hock Keng Temple or the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. If architecture is your thing - definitely don't miss Tiong Bahru, named as one of the coolest neighbourhoods by Vogue, its a complex of art deco buildings and has a fabulous hawker centre. For culture vultures, head to Arab Street and Haji Lane in the Kampong Glam area and enjoy the traditional shops and impressive Sultan Mosque. Also don't miss Little India with its extensive gold, spice and fabric markets and the breath-taking Sri Mariamman Temple, Singapore's oldest and largest Hindu Temple with its ornate carved deities. For shopping, head to Orchard Road and one of the mega malls, like ION and Paragon - aswell as all the high street and luxury branded shops they also have great basement food courts If you fancy extending your stay in Singapore then I recommend heading over to Sentosa, a short taxi ride away and enjoy this island's charms including its pristine beaches, tropical gardens, skywalk and amusement parks
