I am an experienced travel agent in Halifax and specialise in tailor making itineraries to suit all budgets.
I have been a travel agent for 26 years. I joined Travel Counsellors in 2004 and I can honestly say I have never looked back. I have just celebrated my 20th anniversary with Travel Counsellors.
I have been on many holidays and educational trips which include most of the Greek Islands, Portugal, Cyprus, Spain, Canary Islands, Turkey, Paris, Barcelona, Venice, Florence, Prague, Dublin, Jersey, Miami, California, New York, Antigua, Dubai, Doha, Bermuda, Antigua, Jamaica and I have been on many cruises and sailing holidays. I have just returned from a fantastic trip to Thailand, wow! What an amazing holiday. The food and hospitality were wonderful but the heart of the experience was the Thai people. I also visited an elephant sanctuary which was a beautiful and humbling encounter.
My favourite place I have visited with my family so far is Santorini. It has to be the prettiest place I have ever seen and serves the most delicious cuisine. I would love to visit South Africa which I plan to do sometime in the near future.
I love being a Travel Counsellor because I can spend time finding my customers the right holiday, without any targets to meet or any directional selling. The technology I have is fantastic and enables me to search a number of airlines and suppliers at my fingertips. I have a vast knowledge of travel and specialise in tailor-making holidays anywhere in the world. Working from home means I am available at a time to suit my customers, including evenings and weekend. Importantly I pride myself on the high level of service I provide my customers and the friendships and trust that have been formed. My clients come back to me time after time for all their travel needs because they are so happy with the service they receive.

I have never before visited anywhere like Bermuda. From the moment I stepped off the plane, it took my breath away. I was immediately struck by the friendliness of the people and the surrounding beauty of colourful houses and luscious greenery, the beautiful turquoise sea and 34 gorgeous sandy beaches which were tinged with pink and visible almost wherever you looked around the island.
Bermuda is just 22 miles long and 2 miles at its widest point yet offers so much for everyone. I was lucky enough to personally sample some of the activities and sites by visiting the old capital of St George and the new capital Hamilton. I also spent time at the aquarium, museum, Bermuda Perfumery and many more wonderful places. The Crystal Caves Tour was a wonderful opportunity to see the island’s amazing limestone formations.
In one very hectic day I experienced horse trail riding on the beach which was simply a wonderful experience and I am no horse rider! I also had my golf lesson which is not something I anticipate taking up but it was great to experience it.
Last but not least, was a tour of the Royal Naval Dockyard (which is where the cruise ships dock) on a Segway. This is a two-wheeled electric vehicle used as a convenient way to travel around towns and cities. Its direction is controlled by which way the driver leans. This was great fun but you need to have your wits about you as you can easily fall off if you get carried away and go too fast. And there is lots of water to fall into in a dockyard! Fortunately I managed to avoid this.
It is very easy to get around the island but car hire isn’t an option yet in Bermuda. However, scooter hire (no licence required) is plentiful and there is a reliable bus service and of course lots of friendly taxis with their cheerful drivers.
During my five days on the island, I was able to sample ten different restaurants. Needless to say I came home with excess baggage as the cuisine was so tantalisingly gorgeous. The choices of the freshest fish and lobster dishes were out of this world along with several other meats, chicken and plenty of vegetarian options.
Bermuda offers an array of different hotels to suit everyone. Some are large but there some great boutique hotels as well. Bermuda is an expensive island as everything has to be imported but there are restaurants and accommodation to suit most budgets. The flight time to get there is seven hours from London. The island has its own charming character, made special by the genuine friendliness of its people.
I can honestly say Bermuda is a unique and special place to visit. Bermuda is a place everyone should have on their list of top places to visit.
I have just returned from the beautiful island of Rhodes after attending a romantic beach wedding in Lindos. It's the first wedding I have attending abroad and I wasn't disappointed. The bride and groom chose to be married on the beach but there is also the option for the ceremony to take place at St Paul's church or if preferred, a hotel setting.
After a very intimate and beautiful beach ceremony, we went back to the hotel for the reception which began in true Greek style with wonderful dancers, followed by a luscious feast of food and wine.
We stayed at Lindos Bay which is just a short taxi ride from Lindos which is so pretty with its white washed little tavernas and cobbled streets, surrounded by little gift shops and the most stunning views can be seen from the Acropolis.
With just a four hour flight from the UK, Lindos is a spectacularly beautiful setting for a wedding abroad.

I have used Gail Herring, our local Travel Counsellors rep for a number of years now and just wanted to let you know that she consistently delivers an excellent service. She has a clear understanding of what we like and has put together various itineraries for us which have involved multiple hotel and flight bookings. She is always so helpful; nothing is ever too much trouble. On our latest holiday she recommended a hotel in Chicago which I can honestly say is the best place we have stayed - it was perfect! She has also arranged a number of holidays for family members. These too have been very successful. On the rare occasions there have been unforeseen problems, Gail has sorted them out quickly and efficiently. My friends and I would like to put on record what a fantastic job Gail Herring did for us with our recent trip to Las Vegas and California. She had helped us build our trip which included a week-long stay in La Jolla/San Diego which was to be our relaxing week. Between us we had settled on a hotel in La Jolla described as close to the sea on the website but to our dismay when we arrived we were situated at a large intersection of a motorway system with no restaurants, bars and the sea/beach a 15 minute minimum drive. The hotel refused to move us to their sister hotel in San Diego. We contacted Gail and she very quickly resolved out problem and moved us the next day to the sister hotel which was perfectly located. Without Gail's help our second week could have been a disaster. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you - we had a fantastic holiday thanks to Gail!!!

I have recommended Gail to friends because the service she provides is fantastic. Gail never fails to delight. I messaged Gail one day on our holiday in Australia when I realised we had left some swimwear in our hotel room in Dubai en route to Perth. I asked for the telephone number of the hotel and explained why. A couple of hours later I got a reply from Gail who had arranged for our clothes to be couriered to the hotel we were going to be staying in to break up our return journey. This all happened on Easter Sunday! Where else would I get that level of service? I know if anything happened affecting our holiday, Gail would do everything possible to assist us. I wouldn't use anyone else.

Amazing service - Gail recently put together a great bespoke trip to Thailand for my girlfriend and I...and we simply wouldn't book through any one else. It was the third time we'd benefitted from Gail's high quality service (previously; package holiday to Turkey and a week in NewYork) and she again went above and beyond e.g. adapting our itinery at short notice to accommodate pregnancy, and tracking down the iPod I left on a plane, having it sent from Dubai and even covering the postage! We have used Gail for over six years now to book all our holidays on average at least two a year and every time she books us in at superb hotels and locations, She knows what we like and where we like to go. She never ever gets it wrong!
We have formed a lovely friendship over the years.
We have just returned from Lanzarote where we were affected by the volcanic ash cloud our flights were cancelled and without Gail we would probably be still there - she was truly amazing; she even helped out another family who we had become friendly with at our hotel!! Such a star!!

We would recommend Gail to anybody looking for a caring, knowledgeable agent who always exceeds expectations. We have arranged 4 holidays with her; 2 city breaks and 2 beach breaks, each of which we have loved. The city breaks produced very comfy, convenient hotels with excellent service at a price which left plenty of our budget to explore. The beach breaks produced stunning hotels in beautiful, quiet places and made the holidays very special. Best of all though is the support Gail provides. Not only does she do all the research, book the flights and hotels etc. as you would expect but she carries on caring after the holiday is sold. This was proved to us when our flights were cancelled the day before departure due to a baggage handler strike in Rome. By the time it had been reported on the news and we got hold of Gail she had already altered our booking at our hotel and booked us new flights turning what may have ruined a holiday into a minor inconvenience. We are in the process of booking our 5th holiday through Gail and it is very reassuring to know yet again it will exceed our expectations.

For the last five years I have had the responsibility of booking a group holiday for up to nine women. This year we really wanted to visit Santorini but the budget I was given just didn't stretch to the cost of a package holiday in Santorini.
