Days 1-3: Rome

Begin with direct flights from Gatwick, arriving into sunny Rome. The historic Kolbe Hotel is your base, centrally situated near the Roman Forum.

On day two, dive into the heart of Rome's Catholic heritage with entrance to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Stand beneath Michelangelo’s ceiling masterpiece, admire the grandeur of St Peter’s Basilica, and discover centuries of artistic excellence on every corner.

On day three, step further back in time with an excursion to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. Wander through the corridors of Rome's most iconic ancient ruins and learn about the gladiatorial combat that thrilled thousands almost two millennia ago.

Day 4-5: Civitavecchia & Time at Sea

Travel in comfort with private transfers to Civitavecchia to board your Cunard cruise on the Queen Victoria. Settle into your elegant Britannia Balcony cabin, as you pass through the Strait of Bonifacio, with the rugged Corsican and Sardinian coastlines in view.

The next day, embrace the calm of the open sea with exquisite dining on hand, and spend a leisurely afternoon on deck. Fancy a mid-afternoon nibble? Indulge in Cunard’s signature luxury afternoon tea experience.

Day 6: Tarragona & The Solar Eclipse

Arrive in Tarragona, Spain, and spend the day exploring the Roman Amphitheatre or the Catedral de Santa Tecla. As the afternoon unfolds, prepare for one of nature’s most magnificent phenomenon. From the luxury of the ship’s deck, witness the skies darken as the moon passes in front of the sun - a natural wonder seen from an extraordinary vantage point.

Day 7: Palma de Mallorca

Disembarking in Palma, visit the gothic La Seu Cathedral or relax on one of the island’s sun-soaked beaches. The local produce market offers fragrant fruits and freshly baked ensaïmadas for some authentic flavours.

Day 8-9: At Sea & Villefranche

Enjoy another restful day aboard before reaching the French Riviera. Villefranche-sur-Mer is a postcard-perfect harbour town close to the glamorous cities of Monaco and Nice. Stroll its cobbled streets and savour Provençal cuisine or explore the nearby glitz of Monte Carlo.

Day 10: Marseille

France’s oldest city is home to the bustling Vieux-Port where you can sample seafood at the local markets, or venture to Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde. Enjoy the exquisitely decorated interior, and the equally beautiful view across the historic city.

Day 11-12: Barcelona & Ibiza

In Barcelona, take in Gaudí's masterpieces, including the surreal Sagrada Família, or indulge in the flavours of the Boqueria market, tasting charcuterie and heirloom tomatoes.

The next day takes you to Ibiza, known for its vibrant nightlife and daytime laid-back luxury. Explore ancient Dalt Vila, relax by turquoise waters, or dine at chic beachside restaurants offering island-inspired menus.

Day 13-14: At Sea & Sardinia

Recharge during another tranquil day at sea, perhaps with a taste of home at the ship's Golden Lion pub, before docking in Cagliari on Sardinia’s southern coast. Stroll through Castello, the old town perched high above the city or enjoy Sardinian olive oil tastings to round off a perfect day.

Day 15-16: Sicily & Campania

Explore the Sicilian port city of Messina, known for its historic cathedral bell tower and stunning strait views. Food lovers may choose to seek out tasting tours featuring Sicilian wines, rich cannoli, and hearty pasta alla Norma

The following day takes you to Campania, docking near Salerno. From here, consider booking an excursion to Capri’s chic boulevards, the Amalfi Coast’s breathtaking cliffs, or the ruins of Pompeii to end your adventure on a high.

Day 17-18: Return to Rome & Disembarkation

Your journey concludes as the Queen Victoria returns to Civitavecchia. Now’s the time to reflect on unforgettable memories as you disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
