Customer Blog: Our Swiss Adventure Organised by Lucy

Kandersteg – This is a beautiful little town, high in the Alps. A really lovely surprise when we got off of our train transfer from the airport. Most people come to Kandersteg to travel up in the gondola to visit the Ochinensee lake - quite breathtaking to walk around to see (and walk under!) the waterfall. There are 2 other cable cars in the valley, taking you up to do walks in the mountains. We went up in the Sunnbuel cable car and walked around in t shirts in the snow! Our Hotel - what a great place to stay! Family run. The owners were so welcoming and thoughtful. The service was excellent and the food even better ??. An extensive Continental breakfast buffet and a lovely 4 course dinner in the evenings. Plus a lovely view from the dining room of a flower filled meadow with mountains beyond. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel gave us a visitor card which gave us free travel on the buses and reduced entrance fees to castles, museums etc. We visited Blausee - blue lake, which had a cosy bar/restaurant in the hotel, plus an organic trout farm to visit. Also had a day in the pretty lakeside resort of Spiez, which had a lovely harbour and great castle. Brig old town is nice to walk up through and the new part has the World Nature Forum. On our journey home we had an evening flight, so took the opportunity to spend a few hours by the lovely lake in Geneva. We had a coffee and a "Sun train" (solar powered) ride along the left bank. It was a wonderful holiday and we're so grateful to Lucy for organising it for us :-) We'd certainly recommend Kandersteg to anyone who loves mountains, lakes, walking and a peaceful place to stay.
