Baska Voda, Croatia
After booking a wedding there last year and doing a lot of research on the country it was the obvious choice for us. With beautiful scenery, fantastic coastline and very reasonable living costs it was a place I really wanted to visit so I could share this amazing country with my clients. I had flights from Bristol, direct into Split and travelling down to a lovely resorts called Baska Voda, close to Makarska and Brela too. We stayed in a beach-front apart-hotel overlooking the calm waters. The beaches are all pebble in this area so beach shoes are a must but it certainly didn't bother us as the snorkelling is fantastic here and right on the edge of the water due to all the rocks. We spent most days in the sea enjoying the water activities on offer.
The second week was about getting out and about so we hired a car to do this. We went rafting down the Cetina River was just amazing to do - great day excursion. We went island hopping to Brac and Hvar and they were just gorgeous islands to visit. I have never seen a place where you can get the sea, beach, pine trees and the mountains in one picture! Truly stunning.
I mentioned the cost of living too and we really could not spend our money. It was so reasonable to eat out and the food was good. I wouldn't say outstanding for choice but everything was cooked well and there was plenty of places to eat however most had the same on offer. Our last night we went out for a the most fantastic lobster (pre-ordered) and we weren't disappointed. It was the biggest lobster we have ever seen filling the table for the four of us!
We as a family have been fortunate enough to travel to many places and if you ask my family, Croatia is one of the best holidays we have ever had.
