The First Few Weeks as a Travel Counsellor: A Rollercoaster of New Beginnings
Launching my own travel business has been an adventure all its own, one that I never could have fully anticipated. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions, from exhilaration at securing my very first bookings to moments of doubt as I navigate the big transition from the corporate world to being self-employed.
In these first few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of planning trips to some incredible destinations: the USA, Spain, Dubai, and Italy! Each booking has felt like a little victory, a sign that this dream is not only possible but unfolding right in front of me. The travel world is vast, and every client’s unique needs challenge me to build confidence in my skills and knowledge—skills that are still fresh but growing every day.
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Moving from the structure of a corporate role to the freedom (and responsibility) of running my own business has been as thrilling as it is daunting. It’s a steep learning curve, with every new task pushing me out of my comfort zone. I’ve learned how essential it is to have people who are there to cheer you on—family, friends, mentors, and even my early clients. Having this support network reminds me that I’m not alone in this; they see the potential in what I’m doing and will do whatever they can to help me succeed. That kind of encouragement is invaluable.
The weeks are flying by, and there’s so much to look forward to. As I grow my business and work with more clients, I’m becoming even more passionate about crafting unforgettable travel experiences. This journey is just beginning, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me—and my clients—next!
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. Let’s keep exploring the world, one incredible destination at a time!
