Balearic Heaven

Ibiza: More Than Just a Holiday — A Piece of My Heart Ok, so let me tell you about Ibiza. For me, it’s not just a holiday destination, it’s been a place I was lucky enough to call home, and it’s still home to many of my close friends. I visit regu-larly throughout the year, and every time I go, it feels like coming back to a magical little is-land that never loses its charm. Ibiza often gets labelled as just a party island and yes, that side definitely exists (and it’s brilliant!). But honestly? It’s so much more than that.

The Summer That Changed Everything Back in the summer of 2012, my then-fiancé and I spent the season living in a beautiful villa in the centre of the island with our little boy Henry, who was just three at the time. My then fiancé was in the music industry and we were there for the late Avicii’s first ever residency at the now-iconic Ushuaïa in Playa d’en Bossa. That was the reason for us being there but that’s not the version of Ibiza I want to talk to you about today.

Ibiza Is For Everyone So many people assume Ibiza is just for the young, rich and famous. And of course you’ll see that scene, great if that’s what you’re looking for. But Ibiza is also incredibly diverse. If you want to party, the island delivers (and not just for 20-somethings either you’ll find a huge mix of ages and nationalities on the dancefloor). But head north and you’ll find an entirely different energy, calm, peaceful, and soul-nourishing. Think: - Yoga retreats nestled in pine forests - Bohemian villages with artisan markets - Secret coves that feel like your own private beach - Glorious sunsets with drumming circles at Benirràs It’s the perfect place to switch off, slow down and truly breathe.

Ibiza with Kids? Absolutely! People are always surprised when I tell them how family-friendly Ibiza can be but it really is! Whether you want an upmarket eco-luxury resort or a relaxed beach town, there’s something for everyone. It also boasts a fantastic water park and two go karting tracks. Here are some of my favourite family beach spots: • Cala Llonga – a super wide beach, gentle waves, and easy access • Santa Eulalia – a lovely, laid-back town with great restaurants • Es Canar – home to one of the best hippy markets on the island • Portinatx – crystal-clear waters, safe for paddling, and plenty of space If you’re after barefoot luxury, Six Senses Ibiza in Portinatx is an absolute dream.

Dreaming of an Ibiza Wedding? Ibiza also makes for a stunning wedding destination. I actually planned my own wedding there, so if you’re thinking about tying the knot on the island, I’d love to help in more depth with local tips, trusted suppliers, or just some friendly guidance to get you started. Just ask!

Eat. Swim. Dance. Repeat. The beach clubs are unreal — from stylish sunset hangouts to family-friendly all-dayers. And the food scene? World-class. Whether you’re into sushi, tapas, Mediterranean fine dining or laid-back rustic bites, Ibiza delivers. Some of my personal favourites: • Tapas Restaurant & Lounge – a hidden gem serving creative small plates • The Fish Shack (just outside Ibiza Town) – no menu, just whatever the fisherman caught that morning, served with fresh salad… eaten by the sea on rustic benches. Pure magic. • Sa Capella – Fine dining, set within a beautifully restired 16-18th century chapel (definitely wins my vote!)

Don’t Miss Formentera — Ibiza’s Little Sister Just a short ferry ride (or private boat charter if you’re feeling fancy!) away, Formentera is like the Maldives of the Balearics. Seriously, the water is turquoise-clear, the beaches are white, and its ultra-laid-back. If you do go by boat, you can moor just offshore and waiters will come on little tender boats to serve you drinks and food right to your yacht. Or hop ashore to try some incredible Spanish-style seafood spots, it’s smaller, quieter, and truly magical.
