Our happy place, we have totally fallen in love with the people, islands and culture. The Thai people are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, they can't do enough for you. We flew from Heathrow with Emirates via Dubai . We started our Thailand adventure with an over night stay in Bangkok to break up the flying. We love Bangkok and always visit Koh San Road which has a street market every night to get a couple of souvenirs and a must have foot massage after all that travelling. Other trips in Bangkok that are worth visiting are the floating markets, a ride in a tuk tuk (brilliant) and the beautiful temples. We then took an internal flight to Koh Samui and have stayed at both Lamai beach area and Bophut. We love them both but our favourite has to be Lamai, for its beautiful beach-side restaurants, weekly night market (Sundays) and the amazing Swing bar that has nightly fire shows. During the day there are lots of things to keep you occupied such as waterfalls, snorkelling trips, water sports, fishing, temples and much more. We stayed here for 4 nights and then headed (via a short ferry trip) to Koh Phagnan. This is my favourite place in Thailand and we always stay at the same hotel right on the beach. It is very laid back here but still so much to do, whether you want to just lay in the sun and enjoy the surroundings or visit the near by Ang Thong Marine park (a must do), night market at Thong Sala, diving or maybe take a cooking class, we spent 4 nights here before heading to Koh Tao by sea catamaran. Koh Tao is my husbands favourite island because of the amazing diving. We like to stay in Chalok Bay right by the beach, my husband completed a 2 day PADI open water course which he absolutely loved, Koh Tao really does have that tropical island feel. It is very slow paced with wonderful restaurants and bars and the best sunsets. We always stay bed and breakfast in Thailand because the food is so cheap and the best part of being in Thailand is going out and sampling all the wonderful delicacies. If you have any questions about Thailand and would like me to put a memorable trip together for you please contact me 01621 670015 tracey.woodfine@travelcounsellors.com

Our trip to Lapland was one of the most amazing experiences we’ve ever had. We went on a 2 night/3 day trip, even 5 years on our son still talks about it and he is 11 this year, we flew from Stansted and I must stay the magic started from the moment we boarded, the captain came over the tannoy and advised all of the children he was waiting for Santa's reindeers to be attached to the front of the plane so they could fly us to Lapland! When we arrived, we were met in the baggage area by Santa's elves who chatted to the children and caused mischief on the baggage belt, which made the children laugh, we were then swiftly taken to the hotel which was lovely, warm and cosy. We were suited and booted in our thermal clothes and boots and that afternoon/evening had free time to explore the sledging slopes which were great fun, make snow angels and have a lovely dinner. The following day was full of activities we were collected from the hotel and taken to Santa's house, we had the most amazing day ice fishing, sitting round an open fire with marshmallows and hot chocolate, a reindeer safari ride, husky sled ride (which was driven by my husband) and more sledging, but the highlight of the day was our private meeting to see Santa, we were taken through the woods by a skidoo pulled sledge up to a beautiful wooden cottage and were greeted by elves making snowmen and having snowball fights. We were led into the cottage where Father Christmas was sitting by a log burning fire holding our sons’ letter which he had sent a few weeks earlier with his present list. At this point the tears were rolling down my face with such happiness and they didn't stop until we got back to the UK. That evening we had a brilliant gala dinner and the children played games such as pass the parcel and musical statues. If you have always wanted to visit Lapland then I would 100% recommend it, it isn't the cheapest of trips but one that will stay in your memory for a very long time, if you would like me to help plan your break please let me know.
