About me..
I have always been interested in learning about other cultures and languages, and this is how my love of travel started and developed. Originally from Belgium, I have now been living in the UK for over 20 years with my husband who I married in beautiful Mauritius. We have 3 children, one of whom has a severe nut allergy and therefore I am understanding and mindful of additional needs or adjustments you or members of your party may require.

As a family, we are keen travellers and love discovering new places which led me to plan many of our bespoke holidays over the years. One of our most unforgettable memories was our Iceland trip due to the wide range of experiences which met all our individual needs including a puffin encounter, glacier hiking, geothermal bread baking, zip lining, walking inside a volcano and relaxing in the Blue Lagoon.
Some of my travel highlights are: hiking through the Canyons in Southwest USA including Zion and Bryce national parks, husky sledding in Lapland, taking a boat trip on the Glacier lagoon in Iceland, snorkelling amongst turtles and nursing sharks in the Maldives, watching the fireworks in Euro Disney, swimming with the dolphins in Florida, feeding elephants and sleeping on floating tents in Thailand, enjoying a seaweed bath in South of Ireland, water rambling in Gorges du Verdon in South of France, learning to ski in Austria and Switzerland, zip lining in Snowdonia in Wales, driving through Glencoe in Scotland. scuba diving in Corsica and finally, saying “I do” on the beach in Mauritius.

Our Family's Journey Back to Enchanting Lapland

10 April 2025

The first time we visited Lapland, we said it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a dream destination on our bucket list. Yet, here we are again, just over three years later. We longed for the snow, the breathtaking snowy landscapes, the tranquility, the stars shining in the dark night sky, and all the enchanting experiences that come with winter. This time, our focus shifted from the Santa experience to exploring what Lapland has to offer as an early-year destination. We discovered some incredible activities, including Aurora snowshoeing, ice karting, and, of course, snowmobiling again. My kids even tried cross-country and alpine skiing for the first time, and the conditions were perfect for beginners—small and not overly crowded. My daughter is now hooked on skiing, so it looks like we'll be planning some ski holidays in the future! We absolutely love Saariselkä. Just a short 5-10 minute walk gives you the feeling of being in the heart of the Arctic Circle, yet you're close to a supermarket, a few restaurants, and the ski resort—definitely not too isolated. Plus, the quick transfer from the airport is a major bonus! My daughter even got the chance to meet Santa, thanks to our Northern Lights village supplier; the experience was intimate and well-organized. I think we’ve truly fallen in love with this place and are likely to return in the future. If you’ve never been to Lapland before, trust me—you won’t regret it!

A Mother-Daughter Trip of a Lifetime: The Grand Canyon Adventure

24 December 2024

For as long as I can remember, visiting the Grand Canyon has been a dream of mine. Its vast beauty and grandeur captivated me, and I promised myself that one day I would make the journey there. After more than 40 years, I finally took the leap and planned this experience with my mom. Originally, our trip was set for October 2020, but as we all know, circumstances changed, Covid struck. We rescheduled for 2021, only to face more setbacks. Finally, we landed on April 2022. Just when we thought we had overcome the hurdles, I encountered an issue with my ESTA application. Despite completing all the required paperwork and receiving confirmation, countless calls had to be made by the custom to the U.S. and I found myself shedding a few tears before we finally made it through customs. To add to the chaos, our flight was unexpectedly canceled just 30 minutes before boarding! We had to return the next day, but instead of a direct flight, we had a layover in Chicago. With emotions running high and exhaustion setting in, it was challenging to stay calm and rational. Eventually, we arrived in Las Vegas with only ten minutes to spare during our connection. Unfortunately, we missed the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson show since we were a day late. However, once we put the stress behind us, we set off on an incredible seven-day tour of the South West U.S. with a small group and an amazing guide. This journey allowed us to explore places before the crowds arrived and discover hidden gems off the beaten path. Our guide expertly timed our visits to maximize our experiences. While the Grand Canyon was my ultimate goal, two other breathtaking locations stole my heart: Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. Witnessing the sunrise at Bryce was nothing short of magical. Throughout our seven days, we visited remarkable sites including Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Moab, Canyonlands, Arches, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, the Grand Canyon, and Route 66. One of the highlights was undoubtedly the helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon—an awe-inspiring experience! After our road trip, we spent a day and a night in Vegas, exploring the various hotels and casinos and watched cirque de Soleil Beatles. What a show! Don't miss Fremont Street at night; it's truly worth the detour. The Bellagio Fountains are mesmerizing, and I could have easily spent hours watching them, especially while enjoying a refreshing drink at the café “Mon Ami Gabi” across the street. One of my most cherished memories is sitting by the Grand Canyon with my mom, watching the sunset unfold before us. Don’t hesitate to chase your dreams—life is too short!

Annual Summer Family gateway in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

22 December 2024

For over a decade, our family has cherished summer escapes to this enchanting region, where my kids enjoy quality time with their grandparents. The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur area is a treasure trove of experiences, offering a perfect blend of coastal beauty and mountainous serenity. Personally, I find the mountains to be the highlight, especially during the summer when they offer a peaceful retreat from the crowds. #### A Must-Visit: Les Gorges du Verdon and Le Lac du Verdon One of my favorite annual destinations is Les Gorges du Verdon, particularly Le Lac du Verdon. The scenery is simply breathtaking! Lac du Verdon: Over the years, we have enjoyed a myriad of activities here, including swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, and even hiring a boat complete with a slide! The warm waters are inviting, and there are plenty of shaded areas provided by the surrounding trees. Parking is free, but be sure to arrive early in the morning to secure a spot. One of our favorite pastimes is strolling along the Pont du Getas, where we can watch adventurous souls jump off the rocky cliffs into the water below. Gorges du Verdon: These gorges are nothing short of awe-inspiring! I recommend taking a scenic drive (with someone else behind the wheel ??) and stopping at the numerous viewpoints along the way. The area offers a plethora of activities, from hiking and water rambling to bungee jumping. We’ve tried them all, and each experience has been thrilling! ?? #### Charming Villages 1. Cotignac: A village you absolutely cannot miss is Cotignac. This charming locale is known for its vibrant markets and picturesque streets, making it a perfect spot for an afternoon stroll. 2. Tourtour: Dubbed one of the "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France," this hilltop village offers stunning panoramic views and a peaceful atmosphere. Wander through its charming streets and enjoy local cuisine. 3. Aups: Famous for its truffles, Aups is a small village with a rich history. Visit the weekly market to sample local products and explore the surrounding countryside. #### Stunning Waterfalls: Cascades de Sillans Don’t forget to visit the Cascades de Sillans. These beautiful waterfalls are a hidden gem and a fantastic spot for a refreshing dip. #### Hidden Gem: La Muie - Salernes Another secret treasure is La Muie in Salernes, a fantastic place for swimming in the river. It’s a serene escape that feels like a slice of paradise. Salernes is also known for its pottery and ceramics, this quaint village offers a glimpse into traditional Provençal life. Explore the local artisans’ shops and enjoy the surrounding lavender fields in summer. #### Coastal Delights When you’re ready to hit the coast, you’ll find a wealth of beautiful beaches and delightful restaurants. Here are a few must-visit places: 1. St. Tropez Famous for its glamorous beaches and vibrant nightlife, St. Tropez is a must-visit for those looking to soak up the sun and enjoy high-end dining and shopping. Don’t miss the iconic Pampelonne Beach and the charming old port area. 2. Sainte-Maxime While Saint-Tropez gets all the attention, Sainte-Maxime is a quieter alternative with lovely beaches, a picturesque town center, and a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy the waterfront promenade and local restaurants. 3. Les Calanques de Cassis This stunning national park features dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear waters. The calanques (inlets) are perfect for hiking, swimming, and kayaking. The picturesque town of Cassis is also a great spot to enjoy fresh seafood and local wines. 4. Le Cap Dramont Located near the town of Agay, Le Cap Dramont offers breathtaking views and beautiful beaches. It’s a great spot for hiking, exploring the coastline, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. The nearby island of Île d'Or is also worth a visit. 5. Plage d’Agay - Cap Esterel Agay is a charming seaside resort known for its lovely beaches and family-friendly atmosphere. Cap Esterel is a stunning resort area that combines beautiful landscapes with various activities, including hiking, golf, and water sports. The vibrant village atmosphere makes it a great place to relax and unwind. These destinations offer a perfect mix of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and culinary delights, making them exceptional spots for a coastal getaway!

An Unexpected Irish Adventure

15 September 2024

This trip was not part of any original itinerary. As you may have gathered by now, I have an innate passion for adventure and travel, which brings me immense fulfillment. However, my active lifestyle was significantly interrupted when I sustained a back injury at the end of winter 2022, leaving me immobile for several weeks. This period was particularly challenging and disheartening for someone like me, who thrives on activity. The only thing that provided me with hope was the thought of planning a holiday for when I would be back on my feet. Having recently returned from a delightful trip to Scotland, we decided to explore Southern Ireland, which had come highly recommended for its stunning beauty. During my recovery, I found ample time to meticulously plan this self-drive holiday, envisioning it as a packed itinerary filled with experiences, sightseeing, and hidden gems. Our ten-day self-drive journey allowed us to explore a significant portion of Southern Ireland. The following experiences particularly stood out to us: Our Top rated sites: - The Wicklow Mountains: Powerscourt Waterfall, one of my personal favorites. - Gouganna Barra: Offers breathtaking hiking trails. - Kilkenny: A charming castle and town worth exploring. - Cobh: Rich in Titanic history, with its Deck of Cards houses. - Ring of Kerry: Featuring Killarney and the stunning Torc Waterfall. - Dingle Peninsula: Including Coumenoole Beach and Dunquin Pier. Our top Unique Experiences: - Lux Bus: An overnight stay in a bus—an exciting novelty for the children! - Boating Adventure: A local recommendation that provided a thrilling experience for the kids. - Seaweed Baths in Sneem: A serene retreat overlooking a picturesque lake. - Atlantic Seaweed Workshop: A guided exploration of local beaches, where we learned about various seaweeds and even sampled some. - Sheepdog Demonstration at Kissane Sheep Farm: A truly remarkable spectacle. - Feeding Baby Lambs: One of the highlights for the children during our stay at the Old Farmhouse near Dingle. - Gap of Dunloe: A delightful journey via horse cart and a boat ride across the lake back to Ross Castle. - Celtic Steps Show in Killarney: A vibrant cultural experience. - Galway Cookery Classes: A wonderful opportunity to make delicious fluffy scones with a local chef in her home. Not to miss: - Glendalough - The National Reptile Zoo - Dublin: Featuring the historic Trinity College

Exploring the Maldives Before They're Lost to the Ocean. A special celebration vacation

15 September 2024

How did we find ourselves in this idyllic destination? As the primary organizer of our family trips, I typically curate our travel itineraries while everyone else simply follows along with my plans. However, this occasion was notably different. With my husband celebrating his 50th birthday, I posed him the ultimate question: if you could select any destination for a holiday, where would your ideal getaway be? Without hesitation, he responded: the Maldives. Following two flights and a seaplane journey, we arrived at our destination. We appreciated the opportunity to pause midway through our travels, allowing us to explore Doha Airport before boarding our connecting flight. While awaiting our seaplane, we enjoyed a moment on the balcony, watching the graceful landings and takeoffs of the seaplanes. The Maldives is renowned for its myriad islands and resorts, each offering a unique experience. As a family, we prefer tranquil resorts, where our children require little entertainment beyond the joy of exploring the sea. For us, snorkeling and all-inclusive dining equate to a perfect paradise for the kids. Our small island provided us with a beachfront hut, giving us the sensation of having a private beach. The same applied to our snorkeling in the sea. We were fortunate to experience excellent weather throughout our stay—though humid, the warm sea provided a refreshing respite. As an adventurous family, we booked several excursions, including sunset sea fishing, local fishing experiences, turtle snorkeling trips, and encounters with nurse sharks. One of the highlights was having the restaurant prepare the fish we caught for our lunch—a truly unforgettable experience. Travel Tips: Tip 1: Sunscreen alone is insufficient while snorkeling. It is advisable to invest in UV-protective clothing. We had to purchase some at the resort after several of us suffered sunburn on our shoulders and calves, and the prices were rather steep. Tip 2: Water shoes are essential. While some areas feature soft sand, others contain rocks and coral, making protective footwear a necessity.

An enchanted journey: experiencing the wonders of Father Christmas in Lapland

14 September 2024

In the wake of the first lockdown, we we were longing for a getaway—a chance to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey while our children were still young to fully experience it. At the time, they were just 5, 8, and 11 years old. As we anxiously monitored the news, uncertainty loomed over our plans, with the possibility of travel hanging in the balance until the very last minute. We held our breath, awaiting the results of our COVID tests that were required for entry, not knowing until just 24 hours before departure whether our trip would go ahead. The moment we arrived at the airport, a wave of relief washed over us. Our arrival in Lapland was nothing short of enchanting, with a cheerful and friendly greeting from elves at the airport gate. We had specifically planned this trip to celebrate Christmas in a truly magical setting. After a flight to Ivalo, we boarded a transfer to Saariselkä, and the journey itself was breathtaking, with fir trees blanketed in a thick layer of snow. We were fortunate to stay at the Riekonlinna Hotel, where our family of five occupied interconnecting rooms that offered stunning views of the snowy forest from our balcony. The joy on our children's faces was priceless; it was their first encounter with such an abundance of snow. Once we donned our snowsuits, boots, and gloves, we eagerly set off to explore the area. Just a five-minute walk away, our children delighted in sledging at the base of a ski resort slope—a veritable paradise for them! The temperatures during our visit ranged from -10 to -15 degrees Celsius, which, with the proper gear, was very manageable. A valuable tip for those planning a similar trip: hand warmers and foot warmers were advantageous, especially for our day spent with Santa, where we found ourselves outdoors for most of the day. I won’t spoil the Santa experience by revealing too much, but I can assure you that it was truly special. For my children, the highlights of the trip—aside from the magical encounter with Santa—were the exhilarating sledging sessions (often in the dark) and the unforgettable husky ride, which included a chance to meet the adorable huskies. Another helpful suggestion: bring bright hats and head torches, as daylight is scarce during this time of year. During the Christmas season in Lapland, daylight is limited to approximately four hours each day. However, this period also coincides with the optimal conditions for witnessing the breathtaking Northern Lights. I was fortunate enough to experience this natural wonder in the middle of the night, utilizing the Aurora app, which alerts users when the lights are likely to appear—an experience that unfolded while the rest of my family peacefully slept. Unbeknownst to us at the time, just a month later, we would face the onset of a second lockdown.

Unveiling the Mysteries of Scotland! An autumn family quest to uncover Loch Ness

10 September 2024

After navigating the travel restrictions of the UK lockdown and discovering the beauty of regions such as Wales, we felt it was the perfect time to embark on an adventure to the northern part of the United Kingdom. Scotland has long been on my travel list, primarily due to the captivating myths surrounding Loch Ness. Even though I was born in Belgium, the legends of Loch Ness were a significant part of my childhood, sparking a deep curiosity about this well known location. To maximize our exploration of Scotland while accommodating our work commitments, we decided to fly to Edinburgh before embarking on our family's inaugural self-drive journey, as we sought to explore Scotland while engaging in a variety of unique experiences. Our accommodations varied from self-catering lodges to charming bed and breakfasts. Why Scotland in Autumn? - The autumnal hues reflecting on the lochs are truly breathtaking. - Less crowded - It is not winter conditions yet when some places become hard to access - The enchanted forest is a delightful experience for children, only taking place during the autumn season. Some highlights/tips from our 10 day trip: - I highly recommend spending a night at Cladich House/Farm Bed and Breakfast, where you can meet the Highland cows. - Be sure to sample the renowned dish, haggis—my children certainly did! at the Makars gourmet mash bar in Edinburgh - Take your time while driving through Glencoe; there are numerous hidden gems and trails to discover. - Stop at Clachaig Inn Glencoe for a hot chocolate while the kids are having fun in the playground surrounded by the mountains - Don't miss Scotch Corner Icecreams in Pitlochry Our Top Sites: Edinburgh castle (dungeon) & Stirling Castle Callander (improvised stop) beautiful! Utah lochan trail (Glencoe) Glen Orchy (Glencoe) Lochness town Caingorms House of Bruar and Falls of Bruar Pitlochry town Our Top Experiences: Dalmally: Cladich farm - highland cows tour & stay Enchanted forest experience in Pitlochry Aviemore Afternoon tea experience on the Steam train Cairngorms reindeer herd experience Kintail birds of prey experience (Argyl) PS: Loch Ness is still a mystery to us...

Family Adventure in Iceland: A Journey of Discovery

09 September 2024

In the aftermath of lockdown, our family made the conscious decision to explore the wonders of the United Kingdom. The complexities and stress associated with international travel—especially the extensive testing requirements—prompted us to rediscover the beauty closer to home. To our surprise, we found that we did not require the sun, the pool, or the beach to create lasting holiday memories. Instead, it was the diverse experiences we shared as a family that truly resonated with our children. Following our exploration of Scotland, Ireland, and Lapland, Iceland frequently emerged as a topic of conversation among fellow travellers. This sparked our interest, leading us to ask: Why Iceland? As we got into our research, it became clear that Iceland was a treasure trove of experiences waiting to be uncovered. The extensive list of attractions and activities was nothing short of overwhelming! Over the last few years, we had developed a passion for self-drive holidays, embracing life on the road. A valuable tip for anyone considering a self-drive adventure is to invest in travel packing cubes— a different colour for each family member can significantly simplify packing and organization. Thus, we embarked on our journey to book a self-drive holiday in Iceland, opting for the summer months when more sites are accessible and wildlife, such as puffins, can be spotted. Our ten-day itinerary encompassed the Golden Circle and the picturesque south coast, with a preference for self-catering accommodations that offered both cost-effectiveness and convenience for our family of five, particularly with a son who has a nut allergy. Another helpful tip: the Google Translate app can be a lifesaver. Simply select the camera feature, hover over packaging labels, and it will translate the text for you—an invaluable tool when navigating food options. Our Top Sites: - Geysers - Waterfalls: My personal favourites were Bruarfoss and Seljalandsfoss - Þingvellir National Park - Reynisfjara Beach and Dyrhólaey in Vík - Diamond Beach Our Top Experiences: - Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Zodiac Boat Tour (an exhilarating way to get close to the icebergs) - Glacier Hike (the children were enthralled by the opportunity to fill their water bottles with glacier water) - Inside the Volcano Experience - Snowmobiling on the glacier - Puffins tour - Blue lagoon - Zipline in Vik - Lava show in Vik - Geothermal baking Now you know why Iceland is such a great destination and should be on your bucket list!

My customer stories

We had an amazing time in Marrakech. We wanted a blend of culture and the freedom to eat out and experience authentic Moroccan food, but we also knew our children would love the excitement of an all-inclusive hotel with waterslides and activities. Veronique suggested the perfect solution: five nights in the heart of Marrakech, staying in a traditional riad with the souks and eateries right on our doorstep, followed by five nights at an all-inclusive resort just outside the city. It was absolutely perfect – even our 12 and 14-year-olds loved both parts of the holiday equally. One of the biggest highlights was spending an afternoon with a warm, welcoming Moroccan family. We visited their local markets and then shared a traditional meal in their home – a truly special experience. We also loved the camel ride and quad biking adventure in the desert. Veronique organised all our transfers and experiences for us, which made everything so easy and stress-free. Even when we needed to change a transfer time, she handled it all on our behalf. When one of our excursions changed the meeting point from a short walk to an hour-round taxi trip (that we would have had to pay for), she stepped in and sorted it – arranging for the company to collect and drop us off at no extra cost. Thanks to Veronique, we could simply enjoy our time in Morocco. We wouldn't hesitate to book with her again.
