Thrilling 3-Night Getaway in Marrakesh with My Bestie

This trip was truly special as it marked 20 years of friendship with my best friend. We needed a destination that wasn't too far, perfect for a quick escape given our work and family commitments. Our hearts were set on somewhere warm with plenty of experiences to offer, which is why Marrakesh felt like the perfect choice. Plus, I had sent clients there before, so I was eager to delve into Moroccan culture and gather insights for future adventures.

We opted for a RIAD to immerse ourselves in an authentic experience, with the vibrant medina and bustling souk just a short stroll away.

On our first day, we joined a small group for a street food tour, which was the perfect chance to explore the hidden gems of Marrakesh and sample local dishes. I even dared to try snails—my best friend, however, politely declined! After the tour, we wandered around the enchanting Medina.

Day two was packed with adventure as we set off on a day tour to visit an argan oil cooperative, explore a Berber village, and hike through the breathtaking Ourika Valley with the Atlas Mountains as our backdrop, culminating at the Ourika Waterfall. The views were stunning, but Sunday brought a crowd of locals, making it a bit busier than anticipated. We rounded out the day with a delightful late lunch by the river, which was definitely a highlight.

In the evening, we kicked back at the riad and enjoyed some relaxation in the plunge pool.

On our third day, we lounged by the pool before venturing out to the Agafay Desert, which turned out to be an unforgettable experience! We rode camels, went quad biking at sunset, and enjoyed dinner and a dance show under the stars, capped off with an incredible fire performance. The atmosphere was electric, filled with people from around the world coming together as one big family.

Though this was our last night, we still had most of the next day free before our late flight. In a spontaneous moment at 11 pm, we booked a hot air balloon ride—only to realise we had to wake up at 4:30 am for a sunrise adventure! Admittedly, I was a bundle of nerves, but WOW, it was absolutely worth it! The views, the serenity, and the entire experience were a must-do for any bucket list. By 11 am, we were back at our riad, relaxing before our flights. The staff at Riad Nouceiba were incredibly friendly, and the place was immaculate!

During our stay, temperatures averaged around 35 degrees, although we missed the sweltering 44-degree heat both before and after our visit!

Forever Memories with bestie!
