Singapore - slings and more!
Singapore and Bali
We have wanted to travel to Bali as a family for a while and thought to break up the journey it would be nice to go to Singapore in both directions.
We started in Singapore and had four nights there.
We flew Singapore Airlines, who were great, a bit confusing as we took of at 8, had dinner, a few hours sleep and then lunch before landing at 5pm. Husband looked at the post sleep inflight meal selection and said indigestion, but I quite enjoyed my fish stirfry for breakfast/lunch!
On landing at award winning Changi, we easily caught a taxi to our hotel and checked in.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Clarke’s Quay. The location is fantastic, near Clarke’s Quay and Robertson’s Quay and several metro stations too. The hotel is clean, a bit functional but has a great roof top pool and a brilliant, included breakfast with lots of Asia and Western breakfast options.
We loved Singapore and walked loads but also used the very cheap metro. A clean and very efficient way to zoom around the city with each ticket costing around 10p.
Four days were filled with visits to Marina Bay area, Gardens by the Bay, Hawker Markets, Chinatown, shopping centres, temples, Raffles for a Singapore Sling, visits to the Merlion, and a visit to the Formula One Track so we could take photos of the pit stops!
Singapore is wonderfully clean and a great city for a few days. I first went 25 years ago and the city has transformed from a slightly boring business centre to a fun city with loads to do and many places to visit. Definitely worth a stopover or a holiday on its own!
