Personal Travel Blog: BORACAY ISLAND, PHILIPPINES Date travelled: April 2017 General: • Often called the 'Beach Capital of the Philippines' for its powder-fine white sand beaches • Voted as one of the world's best islands from international travel magazines; 'Travel & Leisure' and 'Conde Nast Traveler' • Boracay Island is approx. a 50mins flight from Manila (airport is Caticlan or Kalibo - Caticlan is closer) • From Caticlan to Boracay Island by boat is approx. 15mins • Best time to travel is from December to April. July to November is the low season and therefore the cheapest time to go. October and November have the best sunsets. Hotel: • 4* Best Western Boracay Tropics • Medium sized hotel just a 10min walk to the famous beach • Clean, comfortable, excellent location, beautiful pool, welcoming and attentive staff and service, good happy hour (3-9pm!) Must sees/dos: • White Beach – a 2.5-mile span of uninterrupted white sugary sand • Snorkelling, Scuba Diving, Watersports • Boat Tours • Puka Beach - Northern tip of the island • Watching the famous Boracay Sunset • Ati-Atihan Festival (Kalibo) (held every 3rd week of January - Scene of yearly celebration in honour of Sto. Nino.)
