The journey takes you from ReykjavÃk’s creative quarter to the quieter surroundings of South Iceland, where the landscape opens out into waterfalls, black-sand beaches, and glacier views. Stops along the south coast include Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, where you can get close enough to feel the spray, as well as the dramatic Katla Ice Cave hidden beneath the glacier.
-
There’s also time to slow things down, particularly at the Sky Lagoon, where warm geothermal water meets views out across the North Atlantic. Between excursions, ReykjavÃk offers a more relaxed pace, with cafés, harbour views, and an easy-to-navigate centre.
-
Explore the Katla Ice Caves and beautiful South Coast on a small group tour – kitted out with crampons and helmets you’ll venture deep into the glacier for sights like nowhere else. Walk behind the cascading veil of Seljalandsfoss and admire the striking black sand beach.
-
You’ll stay across two contrasting bases, with two nights at Centerhotel Grandi in ReykjavÃk’s lively harbour district, and two nights at Hotel Rangá in the countryside. Rangá is known for its remote setting and northern lights viewing, with outdoor hot tubs and, of course, an aurora wake-up call if the lights appear overnight.
