But for me, jumping on a plane to my mother’s wooden stilt family home deep in the Thai jungle was simply part of childhood. Those early adventures sparked a lifelong love of travel that eventually became my career.My first trip to Thailand in 1987 even made the local headlines, and since then I’ve returned more than 30 times - including four years living there while teaching English. My travels have taken me across Asia and far beyond: journeying up Mount Fuji in Japan with my sister and Japanese brother-in-law, exploring the awe-inspiring temples of Angkor in Cambodia, discovering the beautiful islands of the Philippines, and sleeping under the stars in the Dubai desert.Other highlights include cruising through Alaska (with a close-up grizzly bear encounter!), road-tripping through the Canadian Rockies, snowmobiling across Icelandic glaciers, and watching the Milky Way appear above us during a safari game drive in South Africa.With nearly 25 years’ experience in long-haul leisure travel, I bring a wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience to the holidays I create. European city breaks have also played a part in my travels & Ive been lucky to have visited Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam & Warsaw to name a few. In November 1986 I joined British Airways and worked for them in reservations and sales at Heathrow and Gatwick for 17years. I was fortunate to travel a great deal to all four continents (more than once) and forged some lasting life long friendships and experiences. I did all the required exams in sales, marketing, ticketing and operations. I won most sales prizes every month for highest productivity and an Award For Excellence.I left BA to work in a Travel Agency specialising in Cuba and the Caribbean where I was a Manager. I gained invaluable experience and made very useful contacts (who still book with me to this day). I did a two year stint with Qatar Airways at their Heathrow ticket desk and I then set up on my own, and so here we are. I love everything Caribbean and Latino and have extensive and personal knowledge of this region , especially Cuba, Jamaica and Grenada, but I am not limited to these areas and can sell any type of dream. I travelled to Africa, India, Nepal, Thailand, Mexico, Guatemala and finally Canada where I stayed for three years working in an art gallery in Toronto, and worked my way across to Vancouver with the same company.On my return to the UK in 1997, I started a position with Fidelity Investments but quickly realised my bug for travel was not satiated and in 1998, embarked on a trip to the Philippines, Fiji and Australia where I worked for St George Bank for nine months. I visited Guatemala for the second time travelling by bus through Mexico up to San Francisco where I stayed for five years. I travelled extensively across the west coast visiting Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada and of all the places I visited, Lake Tahoe is my favourite. I returned to the UK in 2003 and naturally it made perfect sense to me to embark on a career in travel so I joined Flightcentre UK, firstly in the direct stores in New Malden, then moving to Sutton Surrey store where I remained until 2007. I was sent on numerous educational trips to destinations such as South Africa, New Zealand, Rio, New York and countless European countries all of which were fantastic and enabled me to gain an extensive knowledge of how travel operators and hotels work. I happily share this knowledge with customers and colleagues alike with the aim of benefitting their travel experience.In 2007 I decided to move to Corporate Traveller. I was spending more and more time with corporate clients, establishing their needs, cementing business relationships, making recommendations and thus making savings.
