But it's not really just me looking after you and the two of us chatting endlessly on WhatsApp over which is the nicest bit of Bali when I should actually be getting my son ready for school. Not in the unexpected-item-in-the-bagging-area-for-the-fourth-time-kinda way, but in the who-is-this-woman-who’s-made-me-a-fake-coffee-and-rambled-on-about-holidays-for-three-paragraphs-kinda-way. I’m Beth (Hi!) Without giving too much away, I started my career in travel back when everyone thought Let Loose were the new NKOTB. Travel makes me me, and I’ve visited dozens of countries across five continents. Bluntly it’s an obsession I bore my husband with every evening. So if it can’t be me experiencing what it’s like to peer over the grand canyon, or feel the bounce of the seaplane skimming the azure that surrounds my paradise Maldivian island then I’ll do all in my power to make it feel for you like it did for me. The summers were great down at the Hoverport but not so much in the winter!My next positions really became as I followed my husband with his job moves so in 1984 we moved to Peterborough and I joined Thomas Cook. Their training then was fabulous and soon became a travel agent for the first time. We then moved to Leicestershire and like my husband we joined Page and Moy where I stayed for 11 years until I moved to Travel Counsellors in March 2000My favourite European city has always been Paris, and some recent holidays have been spent cruising on a canal boat in different parts of France. Ask me more about that; it’s a wonderful way to relax and meet the locals. We do also love the Greek islands and have visited many over the years. This year was Crete for the first time but we need to go again as it is a large island and we only saw a small part of it.I have been fortunate in that the companies I have worked for have seen a benefit in allowing me to travel for educational purposes to countries I would never have expected to visit. These include Peru and the magical Machu Picchu, South Africa and Kenya on exciting safaris, the Caribbean, cruising (on ships as well as canal boats!), Thailand and Malaysia and many more. They even tried to teach me to dive in the Great Barrier Reef. (I did not pass but at least I completed the course!). The latest trip was to New Orleans, what an exciting city that is. If I have not visited a destination you may be interested in, the Travel Counsellors message board will allow me to find out the answers to your questions. Someone will know.When you call my number, it will be me who answers; this allows me to build up a rapport with my clients, who then return to me year after year for their holiday arrangements.We have a 24 hour duty office who are there at the end of a phone line when there is a hurricane , a cancelled flight, companies going bust at the last minute, helping us with clients who become ill or need to get home quickly. We flew down to Jaipur, then onto Ranthambore to see the Tigers then onto the beautiful Taj Mahal. This year brings a few lovely trips , Lake Garda, River cruise along the Rhine, Malta , Vienna and Zurich...with an overnight train, this will be interesting. I love football, and have supported Sheffield United for many years, unfortunately relegated this season, lets see what the 24/25 season brings. Bramall Lane is my second home. My bucket list included Hong Kong which I visited eight years ago. It was fabulous and lived up to my expectations. I had a break from working in the travel industry to have my son, however, prior to that, I worked in the industry for 10 years, in various roles from Leisure to Corporate travel. I also studied an AVCE in Travel and Tourism and have lived in Germany as a child and explored Germany and other countries close by, I feel this set me on the path to having the travel bug.I went on to study German at university and lived there whilst studying. When I finished my studies, I took a year out to go backpacking around Australia and Asia. Whilst working for an international airline my Husband and I travelled to over 26 countries and over 100 cities. Travel really is my passion, and I have been lucky enough to enjoy all sorts of holidays from backpacking around Australia, to cruising the Mediterranean, to a safari in Kenya on the Masai Mara and even attending a friend’s wedding in Las Vegas. More recently we have taken up skiing as a Family. My son learnt to ski on the sunny slopes of Dubal Mall's indoor ski area, so he developed a passion for skiing. Since then, we have travelled to Azerbaijan and most recently New Jersey for ski holidays. During the pandemic we were limited in terms of travel, however we managed to experience lots of amazing staycations in Dubai. Since then, we have travelled to the Maldives, Mauritius and Ski Lanka, as well as enjoying the ski trips.
