The perfect holiday can be time-consuming and stressful to plan, but luckily I can do the hard work for you so you can switch-off or switch-on when the time comes. I was born in New Zealand, grew up in Australia, and have lived in Oxfordshire, England, for over twenty years. My first trip abroad was to Hawaii and I have been travelling ever since. I worked for the Australian airline Qantas for ten years, which allowed me to see a lot of the world, but also to experience the supply-side of the travel industry.Since then, I have worked in administration and project management, and have had to vent my passion for travel in the holidays I plan for family and friends. As a result, I usually ensure that there is a relaxation phase for my husband, an adventure phase for my children and a cultural phase for myself: I’ve organised a wine tour on horse-back in South Africa, a star-gazing session in the Pyrenees, a cooking lesson in Sicily, kayaking over underwater ruins in Turkey, massages overlooking the Andaman Sea in Thailand and white-water rafting in Montenegro! I am married with one son who recently got married.I have worked in the travel industry for nearly 50 years. I have gained experience in different areas of the industry and have been very fortunate to have travelled extensively during that time. Living in France from the age of 12 gave me an opportunity which only later did I appreciate. I speak fluent French and started my interest in working in the travel industry. I joined Seaspeed Hovercarfts in Dover when I was 18 which then became Hoverspeed and this is where I met my husband who is from Dover. The summers were great down at the Hoverport but not so much in the winter!My next positions really became as I followed my husband with his job moves so in 1984 we moved to Peterborough and I joined Thomas Cook. Their training then was fabulous and soon became a travel agent for the first time. We then moved to Leicestershire and like my husband we joined Page and Moy where I stayed for 11 years until I moved to Travel Counsellors in March 2000My favourite European city has always been Paris, and some recent holidays have been spent cruising on a canal boat in different parts of France. Ask me more about that; it’s a wonderful way to relax and meet the locals. We do also love the Greek islands and have visited many over the years. This year was Crete for the first time but we need to go again as it is a large island and we only saw a small part of it.I have been fortunate in that the companies I have worked for have seen a benefit in allowing me to travel for educational purposes to countries I would never have expected to visit. These include Peru and the magical Machu Picchu, South Africa and Kenya on exciting safaris, the Caribbean, cruising (on ships as well as canal boats!), Thailand and Malaysia and many more. They even tried to teach me to dive in the Great Barrier Reef. (I did not pass but at least I completed the course!). The latest trip was to New Orleans, what an exciting city that is. If I have not visited a destination you may be interested in, the Travel Counsellors message board will allow me to find out the answers to your questions. In 2022 my first overseas adventure was a tour to Jordan - which was great fun. I was invited on Celebrity Beyond for a trade promotional weekend not long after. Our first holiday in 2022 was an Azamara cruise around Croatia - a stunning destination and a chance to find out what happens now you can't dock ships over 25,000 tons in Venice! Our last major trip of 2022 was a last minute cruise around the Greek Islands on Windstar. We always wanted to take a trip on a masted ship and it was everything we hoped for and more. We also explored Athens for a few days before flying home which was easy to do and very interesting. In 2023 we added Seville, Haarlem (Netherlands) for Floriade, the USA, Mexico, Cornwall, Devon & Cyprus. In 2024 our biggest trip was a month spent travelling around California and Canada. The highlight was the Calgary Stampede which we followed with a leisurely self drive through the Rockies and a stop on the East in Montreal. Our first trip 2025 was to Abu Dhabi and Thailand and we ended our travels visiting Tallinn in Estonia for their Xmas markets. I was also lucky enough to visit Costa Rica through the tourist office on a business trip.For each personal & client booking I make I'm planting trees through Trees4Travel to help offsets the carbon emissions generated by our travels. So far I've planted over 1000 trees in Kenya & Mozambique.
