Hi, my name is Maria, I was born and bred in Somerset, and seem to have a strong West Country "Farmer" accent! so people tell me! I always knew since school I either wanted to a a Travel Agent or a Florist and lucky for me, I got a job in Travel at the aged of 16 and have never left the industry! From starting out working in Tour Operations putting together Tailor-made Bespoke Rugby Tours to continuing through the travel agencies on the high Street to now being a Business Owner for the last 20 years. Having my own business gives my the flexibility to work the hours that suit me and my clients and that can look like a Teams call, clients visiting my office in Midsomer Norton (by appointment) or me meeting them for coffee or a breakfast perhaps, or visiting them at home at a time that suits them. My working hours are very different each week but predominately I am in my Office itself 8.30-4.30 Mon-Fri however I work outside these hours to suit. I have also been really lucky to have done a lot of travelling with my husband Martin too! There are now 3 of us in the Butler household. Myself and Martin, and Charlie we also have 26 cows that really do like to have their ears scratched. Martin and I have travelled most of Europe, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey and then some longer ones like the USA, Caribbean, and Canada. So far I have two favourite destinations – they are a bit chalk and cheese though – Mexico and Florida! I have lived here in the village for over 30years and just love country life.I originally hail from New Zealand which is where I had the best travel education facilities afforded to me. I started from the ground (in 1979 – just a baby) as just an office assistant in a VFR travel agency dealing mainly with the Dutch and Belgian expats. I learnt most of my formative trade there and quickly moved up the ranks to consultant and tour guide. I became a member of the New Zealand Institute of Travel which enabled me to expand my knowledge.I started travelling at the age of 16 with my sisters and we were lucky to be able to travel to Europe and some of the Pacific Islands. From there my itchy feet started. In 1986 I moved to Holland (where my Dad is from). In November 1986 I joined British Airways and worked for them in reservations and sales at Heathrow and Gatwick for 17years. I was fortunate to travel a great deal to all four continents (more than once) and forged some lasting life long friendships and experiences. I did all the required exams in sales, marketing, ticketing and operations. I won most sales prizes every month for highest productivity and an Award For Excellence.I left BA to work in a Travel Agency specialising in Cuba and the Caribbean where I was a Manager. I gained invaluable experience and made very useful contacts (who still book with me to this day). I did a two year stint with Qatar Airways at their Heathrow ticket desk and I then set up on my own, and so here we are. I love everything Caribbean and Latino and have extensive and personal knowledge of this region , especially Cuba, Jamaica and Grenada, but I am not limited to these areas and can sell any type of dream. Hello and thank you for visiting my web page. With over 25 years experience working within the travel industry I can honestly say that travel is in my blood. As a child my parents lived and worked in the Middle East so together with my siblings we visited many interesting and beautiful countries and so my love affair with travel began.After graduating from University I packed my rucksack and left for America. Together with a friend we worked and travelled down the East Coast following our dreams and creating life long memories. On return to the UK I continued my adventures and applied to become a ski guide in the northern French Alps for Crystal Ski. Like many graduates before me one season led to another and following a year out travelling in Australia and New Zealand I moved to the Austrian Tyrol to work as a customer service manager for TUI Travel. This is where I met my husband and our first daughter was born in the beautiful town of Kitzbuhel. After enjoying the next couple of years surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of The Austrian Alps we made the decision to re-locate back to the UK.I continued to work for the Tui Travel Group as an agent in Matlock, Derbyshire and built up over 13 years service. In 2014 I was awarded Regional Travel Advisor of the year and began to think about broadening my horizons and setting up my own business. If I have ever had to move away for whatever reason I have always had the urge to move back as it's just a great place to live and work.I have been employed in the Travel Industry for 34 years in both the Leisure and Business travel sectors.
