I live in Eltham with my partner John, Bill & Ernie, Blossom (dogs), Mabel (Cat), Coco, Petal & Peral (Guinea Pigs) Henrietta, Wilma, Oregon & Dottie (chickens) Since I was 5 I wanted to work in the travel industry. When my big brother started dating a very glamorous air hostess, I loved listening to her stories. So here I am now having racked up 45 years in the travel industry. I started work at Lunn Poly in Vauxhall Bridge Road as a Leisure Travel Consultant, when I left I was Regional Deputy Manager for London South East and Kent. I spent 2 years living in the USA. When I returned to the UK I worked for a student travel company as a Fares & Ticketing Manager.Then I went to work for P&O Travel as Leisure Manager, from there I transferred to Swan Hellenic Cruises (part of the P&O Group) where I was fly Cruise Manager this role enabled me to work on the ship 4 times a year. From there I went to Travel2/4 one of the UK’s biggest Tailor Made Tour Operators that only sold through the trade, where I was Hotels, Tours and Groups Supervisor, sadly the office relocated to Glasgow and I was made redundant.I then went to WEXAS Travel, a high end Tailor Made Travel Agent and Tour Operator based in Knightsbridge. My roles were VIP Travel Supervisor then Leisure Sales Manager responsible for 56 staff. My last role there was Product Manger for Indian Ocean, Caribbean and UAE. I got to travel extensively in this role checking out suitable hotels and product for our clients.I was headhunted by Travel Counsellors in March 2017. It was a bit scary at first however I liked the flexibility it gave me, working from home, running my own business but still having the back up and support of our Head Office in Manchester. Being able to give 100% customer service to my clients and not working a mundane 9-5.30 day.I have visited 68% of the world and will continue to keep travelling. I have lived here in the village for over 30years and just love country life.I originally hail from New Zealand which is where I had the best travel education facilities afforded to me. I started from the ground (in 1979 – just a baby) as just an office assistant in a VFR travel agency dealing mainly with the Dutch and Belgian expats. I learnt most of my formative trade there and quickly moved up the ranks to consultant and tour guide. I became a member of the New Zealand Institute of Travel which enabled me to expand my knowledge.I started travelling at the age of 16 with my sisters and we were lucky to be able to travel to Europe and some of the Pacific Islands. From there my itchy feet started. In 1986 I moved to Holland (where my Dad is from). In November 1986 I joined British Airways and worked for them in reservations and sales at Heathrow and Gatwick for 17years. I was fortunate to travel a great deal to all four continents (more than once) and forged some lasting life long friendships and experiences. I did all the required exams in sales, marketing, ticketing and operations. I won most sales prizes every month for highest productivity and an Award For Excellence.I left BA to work in a Travel Agency specialising in Cuba and the Caribbean where I was a Manager. I gained invaluable experience and made very useful contacts (who still book with me to this day). I did a two year stint with Qatar Airways at their Heathrow ticket desk and I then set up on my own, and so here we are. I love everything Caribbean and Latino and have extensive and personal knowledge of this region , especially Cuba, Jamaica and Grenada, but I am not limited to these areas and can sell any type of dream. Travel makes me me, and I’ve visited dozens of countries across five continents. Bluntly it’s an obsession I bore my husband with every evening. After I met my wife, we set off on an almost 2 year adventure travelling extensively throughout America and Canada before ending up in New Zealand and returning home via Thailand. We also attended a wedding on the west coast of Mexico which was an amazing holiday and we did a transatlantic cruise for my 40th birthday.
