I chose an exciting and interesting career 40 years ago. Originally I managed a couple of high street agencies before becoming a Travel Counsellor in 1996. Being a Travel Counsellor has enabled me to visit some fantastic places. It's amazing to be able to pass on this knowledge when helping others to book their ideal holiday. I've had a flurry of bespoke safari holidays recently, all of which I am told were amazing! I've also had the pleasure of helping a few 'solo' travellers which is great. It was in Lake Tahoe that I first learned to ski, and have since been to Italy, Austria and more recently Canada, so if you like something a little more exhilarating I can offer first hand advice. These days my holidays are often spent in Kalkan. I love the laid back pace of life and the local people are wonderful.I've had the privilege over the last few years of arranging a number of weddings and honeymoons which have been a great success! A wonderful start to married life!I had lots of holidays before I had my children but I am blessed to have had some fantastic holidays with them too, they're just a lot different. Pleasing them makes the difference between a wonderful holiday and one you would rather forget! Time spent with our families and loved ones is precious. We work hard all year round and deserve the best holiday possible to look forward to.Being a Travel Counsellor for almost 30 years has given me the best balance between home life and work. I have spent many years travelling and living abroad but am now enjoying a quiet life in the countryside. Actually, living with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 chickens and in a full renovation project means it is not quite as quiet as I would like it to be, but I am working towards it being so one day!I was in my late teens when I first went to work abroad in Germany and was immediately bitten by the bug of all things foreign. My first big trip was to the USA where I hitch hiked through a dozen states, which brought a wealth of weird and wonderful experiences. I then went on to finance my travels by working ski seasons and travelling a different continent each summer. Hence it was a natural progression for me to go onto work in travel and combine my experience and passion and I have now amassed over 30 years in the industry, mostly working as a travel consultant. During this time I have gained a wealth of knowledge about airlines, countries, different routes, specialist lodges, unique boutique accommodations and quality hotels.
